Architecture : OAA forms Committee on future of Profession

The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) is a self-regulating organization governed by the Architects Act, which is a statute of the Government of Ontario. The Association is dedicated to promoting and increasing the knowledge, skill and proficiency of its members, and administering the Architects Act, in order that the public interest may be served and protected.

OAA has recognized internationally trained professional and selected him to be on the Committee on the Future of the profession/ Interns.

“Within 23 months of landing in Canada, to receive a confirming letter from the then President of OAA Mr. David Craddock was a big surprise to me. I honestly appreciate the present OAA council’s stand to support new immigrants and involve them to participate in a dialogue while deciding the future of the Profession/Interns” says Dinesh Burad who is one of the appointed members and completing his internship for OAA.

Dinesh, who graduated from University of Pune in India, had his evaluation done within two months of application to the Canadian Architectural Certification Board and applied for internship with OAA immediately thereafter.

“It is urged to fellow professionals to regain the same status which they enjoyed in home countries by registering with respective regulating professional bodies. It looks an arduous task initially but if a goal is properly perceived and planned for, it is achievable.”

Dinesh has actively brought forward fellow professional's and newly migrated Architectural graduates concerns to the notice of OAA’s Committee on the future of the profession chaired by Ar. Sheena Sharp.
