The Negative and Positive Sides of Being in Canada

By CAP OF GOOD HOPE

These are in general positive and negative points with doubts in minds of weather to migrate Canada of not. The situation could be different person to person.

Negative Points

1. Its almost impossible to work in your field in beginning period at Canada. If you get it you are very lucky.
2. You get irritated and frustrated about the job market over here. And this may reflect in other areas also.
3. You are far away from your close relatives also.
4. In the beginning years, you may be in the hand to mouth situation; hence you can not save money.
5. You and your family get suddenly exposed to lots of means of entertainment and it could affect your family.

Positive Points

1. You always have an opportunity to restart your career in any field.
2. You can enjoy the same life style of a rich people over here, which means your refrigerator would be always packed by cheese, butter, drinks; you can eat the same things which rich people do; you can own the good car.
3. Your kids can get good education even if they are not bright at study. At back home we have the restriction that kid should get excellent marks to go in their chosen field or you need to spend lots of money to get his admission on donation seats.
4. You will enjoy clean air, atmosphere, food etc. These all adds years to your life.
5. On the top, if you are saving 1$ you are saving 38Rs.
6. At back home if you are getting good salary of around Rs.20000/- a month than even you can not afford to buy all of them or one, a good car, dry fruits for your kids, luxurious items like Big flat screen TV, DVD player, Digital camera, Camcorder, Laptop etc. Here you can afford these items even if you are being paid minimum wages. It may take only 12-15 months to buy all of this or most of this. At back home you may think at least twice or thrice if you are highly paid since 3-4 years.
7. There are lots of places to go out like amusement parks, theaters, zoo, safari, monuments, etc in one city only. At back home if you want to go zoo and safari you may need to travel to another city.

Doubts
1. Our children might get caught in bad company and they might turn to bad persons.
• Is there any surety that it won’t happen at back home?
• Is this your doubt or you are sure about that? If you are sure about that do you mean to say that the second generation over here is all bad addicted with drugs, violence etc?
• Here there are lots of religious and social groups, if you become part of this group with your family the chances are very minimal of those things to happen with your family.
2. If we are not working in our field how can we survive?
• Are you here for survival only? If you are here for that only, that means you were not being survived in your field at back home. You are here for better life style, and we can’t get better outputs doing the same thing. You should be always ready to change. You may need to change your field also.
3. We are doing extremely well at back home and we are enjoying the excellent lifestyle over here.
• Is there a guarantee that your kids would be able to live the same lifestyle? It has already been told that here you can enjoy good lifestyle even if you are being paid at minimum wages. Only thing that they need to work.
4. If we are doing for our kids then let them do it for themselves, we can’t sacrifice.
• The same thing your parents might have thought and the same thing your kids may think. My dear, at least one generation should come up and sacrifice for the generations coming. So why not you?
5. We don’t know anyone there who can give support to us?
• Let me ask you how many people you knew at the age of 2-3 years. You know people and make group after coming in their contact.

Wel- come to Canada.
