I know this would have come across before in some way or other but I didn't find straight answers to my questions on threads so far I have gone through. My questions are as follows:

1) How can one do CPA course from US state when residing in Canada? Is it allowed to take CPA exam by non- US candidates? What states in US are considered good for registration purpose as student?

2) I visited http://www.nasba.org" rel="nofollow">LINK and http://www.aicpa.org" rel="nofollow">LINK but couldn't get straigt answers for my questions. Can some one please re-direct me to correct link? How is the foreign degree evaluation works? Are there specific institutions that we need to evaluate our Indian degree to get 150 credits?

3) Is Toronto or any other canadian city a centre for CPA online exam now? Or one still needs to go south all the way to US? I searched on prometric's website but couldn't get a clue either.

4)Is Becker's CPA a good way to increase pass skills for CPA exam?

Any redirections/links that answers above questions will be highly appriciated.

Thanks!

1. Residency requirements vary state by state. For example, Colarado allows international students to take the exam i.e., you need not be a US Citizen or Resident to take the exam in Colarado. You have to go into each member state on NASBA to see if they permit non-residents can take the exam.

Alternatively, you can go to the Becker's office in Toronto and they can tell you which States permit Non-residents to take the exam

Which State is good for you depends on your academic qualification eg., if you're a CA then I would suggest Colarado. The requirements vary by state so can't give an opinion unless you're more specific with your qualification. Again, Becker's can help you

2. I thought that the website has clearly explained how you need to have your credentials evaluated - but then again you have to go into the State you're interested to find out what the process. For example, look at the link below for Montana

http://www.nasba.org/NASBAWeb.nsf/CBT?OpenFrameset

It quite clearly says that if you're educated outside US, then your credentials should be evaluated only by FACS

3. The CPA exam can only be taken in US - you can't write the exam outside US borders. Looking into Prometric website will not help, the answer to your question is on the NASBA website

4. Yes & No - subjective based on your study preferences. If you're a disciplined in your study habits then Beckers is not cost-effective.

Daks
