Hi,
Can anybody help me with this please?
I am trying to figure out the fees associated with Quebec PR.
Quebec Permanent Worker: Can$ US$
Principal applicant $390 $335
Spouse or de facto spouse $150 $129
Each dependent child $150 $129
Federal Skilled Worker: Can$ US$
Principal applicant $550 $465
Spouse or de facto spouse $550 $465
Each dependent child $150 $130
Is "Application for a Selection Certificate" of Quebec similar to the PR through federal process (because it does not say PR, all it says is permanent worker)?
In short, all I would like to know is the initial fees to apply for Quebec PR for me, my wife, and a young baby. My calculation gives me US$ 593 total. Is that right? Are they going to make me pay federal PR fees after Quebec accepts us?
Thanks
Can anybody please say something?
I go to this website:
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/anglais/new_york/fees_payment_DCS.html
and find the fees like this:
PERMANENT WORKER---------$US
Principal applicant-------------$343
Spouse or de facto spouse----$132
Each dependent child----------$132
I go to the Quebec form to fill out for skilled worker and the fees are like this:
Principal applicant-------------------$550 or US$465
Spouse or common-law partner----$550 or US$465
Each dependent child (under22)----$150 or US$130
Which amount am I supposed to send? Do I need to pay both fees that are shown above.
This is the only thing left for me to figure out before I send my application. Please help me.
I had to pay Federal fees as well when sending in documents to get call for medicals.
I had payed the Quebec fees up front. So I ended up paying both fees, which I thought was a complete rip off but can't be helped I suppose.
That was a complete rip off.
They made you pay both Quebec and Federal fees. I cannot believe this.
I was thinking about applying for a Quebec PR, because of less expensive application fees. I may change my plan now and go for Federal one.
Thanks alexm.
That was my initial reaction.
But something you might want to consider is the time saved when applying for Quebec. $500-1000 is a small matter if you want to get there faster. Of course, if you're in the States this might not be such a big deal.
It looks like there is about 6 months difference in processing time between Quebec and Federal, if applying in Buffalo center. (10-12 months for Quebec and 12-18 months for Federal)
I live and work in the US and I will be applying in Buffalo center.
If you do not mind me asking, where did you apply from? I am sure you were qualified for Federal process too, why did you choose Quebec (other than it's fast processing time)? Do you know French langauge? Did you have to take IELTS and TEF?
Thanks
I applied from New Delhi around 2.5 years back. At the time I was rold Federal would take 6-12 months more. Now of course it's a lot longer.
I applied primarily because at that time Federal had raised their points so being single I was unable to qualify even though I pretty much got max points on everything, except French language.
But during this course of time I completed level 2B (approx 320 hrs) of French at Alliance Francaise. Of course my knowledge was still pretty elementary because we don't speak French outside the classroom. And by time of the interview I had forgotten some of that as well.
But in New Delhi the whole interview was in French. A couple of times if I didn't understand I'd ask her to repeat it in English. Her English wasn't too good so it was interesting! But the French I needed to know was pretty basic. At first some basic questions like 'How did you arrive in New Delhi?'...just to see if I could speak a couple of words. If I couldn't explain something in French I'd say I was going to say it in English.
I think it helped that I am in the IT field, with a relatively good resume.
No, I didn't take any English proficiency exams.
Hope that helps.
