First buy the heater, and then complain abt them. Does\\\\'nt matter if u living in a rental aprt or have rented a basement in someone\\\\'s house. the law applies to everyone. am sure if u r in a tight position he will not let go off a few hundred from his rent. so why let him go off. Am sure once the baby is here u will neat a place which is well heated, am sure the authorities will look into this matter with seriousness cos u r going to have a baby soon . would like to share our exp.
we had just moved in a house and the owner decides to sell it after a week of our moving, i had a 6 week old baby. we told him we do not want people coming in the house at odd hrs, so please refund us our lmr, and we will move. he refused to do so, we went ahead and complained and asked for compensation in the form of moving charges which we did get. the tribunal tries to talk to both the parites and find a solution so that the matter is resolved w/o having to go to the court.it might take 3-4 weeks but its going to be a long winter also.

Hello,
Thanks everyone for all the advice/suggestions.
Presently, the landlord has increased the temp by another 2 degrees, and the room is more or less comfortable than before. (I guess he is also a CD member !!! )
I have another query:
My delivery date is scheduled for the last week of Feb, and I am planning to fly back to India in the month of April for a few months.
-Now, how long does it take for the birth certificate/and baby's passport to be issued and vaccinations to be completed?
-What are the procedures to get them?
-can I book the airline ticket from now itself and where can I get a good deal i.e. website, agent, etc.?
Kindly let me know.
Thanks again
Nupur.

Hello,
The house where we live is located in Mississauga, and the house owner is going out of the way to see that there is no adequate heating in the house. Although, by local municipal law, the heating should be 20 degrees throughout the day, he lowers the temp to 14-15 degrees during the day time and increases to 18 degrees during the nighttime. However, sometimes during the early morning hours, he simply switches it off, and we wake up shivering and with a heavy head. Repeated requests have made no impact. He says this is the best that he can do.
I am in my advanced pregnancy and am worried that this might have an adverse effect on me & my baby's health. Moving out to another acco is difficult at this stage, so what should I do?
Should I complain to the police & the Housing tribunal? Will that help? Will that lead to more harassment by the landlord, and subsequent eviction?
Please help me with suggestions/advice.
Thanks
Nupur
stop winning . get a heater - report the fellow to the athourities. if that doesnt work move.
Hi Nupur,
Congrats! in advance for the baby. We went through this 3 1/2 months before and hence i can advise you :
The baby is recommended to fly long haul at 3 months only.
We got tickets at Canindiaexpress (matheson/dixie) and the rates were very good for Air france. speak to ayishawe got this since we wanted to have less stopovers (remember that for ever ytake off and landing the baby will cry for 1 hour each) and we got toronto-paris-chennai/b'lore.
for Emirates (better price) try jet speed travels (google). they are in sheperd avenue. speak to Riaz. Payless travels (advertised in indian papers) also have good deals.
Once your baby is born , they will give statement of live birth in the hospital. take it to the civic centre of your area. they will register your birth and send it to thunderbay. come home and apply for birth cerificate online. you will get it in max. 10 days (since it is started new you will get it in 5 or 6 days since not many know of this service). With this apply for the passport. you will get it in 10 business days. you can book the flight tocket anytime (without any proof of birth). just make sure that you have a name for the kid and that you should write the name of the child the same for every serive.
hope this helps

tamilkuravan. I still feel it will not be adviceable to fly a 2 months baby. Regarding the birth certificate, we applied online but received after 4 months, but there was a reason, we didnt have a homephone/buzzer in our apartment due to bell strike and the shipping agency (they are private -on contract from government) claimed the mail returned. They could have buzzed the super, but preferred to return. That aside, we received the registration number in about 3 weeks from date applied. Passport is generally within 10 days (we havent applied since we dont plan to travel)but you can get one in 24hrs for an emergency.
All the best Nupur and congrats for your baby in advance (as the custom here).

Hi,
I said 3 months and not 2 months. Before you fly check with the doctor if the baby has ear infection. if it has it , the baby should not be allowed to fly as it seems that the ear drum will burst. Check with the ENt/Peadiatrican 4 or 5 days before you fly for that since antibiotics will start working only after 2 or 3 days. Also if the baby has a cold it should not be allowed to fly (our baby has a cold but we still want to make the trip since it is a crucial one). What we plan to do is to put saline in the nose and extract the cold once every 2 hrs.. Since the air plane is pressurised and that they normally donot have proper return air timings (to save fuel on A/C) it is not at all advisable to fly long haul before 3 months. they say that 3 months is the time when the natural anti bodies of the baby start to develop and the respiratory system also more immune power. On the other hand people say that the younger the baby is the more pleasent will be the travel. we will be better off going rather than returning.
Our birth certificate cane in just 5 days after applying and this was 1 months ago. the canadian passort came in exactly 10 working days. Indian visa takes just a day. PIO card takes a week provided the lamination machine at the indian embassy works. go in person to find out.
they also want the left thumb impression (for girl) on the signature column of the PIO application form.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
I donot know how you applied online and got the birth certificate after 4 months. The service was introdued just a month back. Online means applying for the birth certificate over /through the internet. you open the internet, go to the labour ministry site and fill in the details in an online form. you also fill in your credit card details. then you will have to press the SUBMIT button and if accepted it will give you a refernce number.
Hope it helps.
