Can someone recommend good PM related training institutes in either downtown TO. or Mississauga?

Basically I'm looking for a good 5 day course that covers solid ground as far as project management is concerned. Not sure if there are some more IT focused than others, but if yes, this would be my preference. Planning to do a PMP certification eventually, but this is not the only reason for taking the course (i.e it does not have to be a course driven just by this)

Would appreciate some feedback.

BL, most of the PM courses I've seen around or attended are based on the PMBOK.

I've attended a couple of courses at CMC - the courses were good in terms of content as well as as the instructors. One of the courses (Improving Your Project Management Skills: The Basics For Success) I wasn't too pleased with the content. It was too basic for me. The other one was a Sr. PM course. BTW, both these were freebies ;)

Another one I attended at UofT - The Comprehensive Project Management Seminar - This one was geared specifically for those planning on appearing for the PMP exam. Very good course. The instructor Keith Farndale leads Procept Associates Ltd and is an active member on the Southern Ontario Chapter of PMI. The one unique thing about this course I found is between day 1 to 3 and day 4 to 6, there is a break of a month or so. I guess the idea is to let participants go back and absorb the material (frankly who does that)

Another one that I attended was a Project Management in Software Technology (forget the exact name). This was at CDI (Young/Bloor). This one too was based on the PMBOK. I just tried looking this up the website but couldn't locate it.

Others that you could try are
- Procept Associates Ltd.
- Schulich School of Business - York U (not downtown though)
- Bay300.com
- Mindtools (Mindtools.com)

I'm sure there'll be others around. Try the PM Magazine from PMI, if you can get a copy, if not I can check it tonite for you.

Let me know if you need any reading material - I have tons of it.

Just as an FYI, I'm facilitating one of the modules of the PMP course at the Southern Ontario Chapter of PMI next month.

I was browsing on humber.ca ... found this ...

For something like Project Management and if you're planning for the PMP exam, I would keep away from places like Humber, Seneca, Cenntenial. It's worth spending the extra dollar and attending a more professional course..... my 2 cents

SS,

I've zeroed in on this one. Waiting for final approval, but planning to do this in July. I'll pm you once I get the final approval to get some details if that's ok.

Thanks for your feedback on this. I'll post mine once I'm done with this course.
