Are laptops cheaper in Canada or Singapore? Chandresh, you might know. Can you recommend a reliable shop in Singapore?

Thanks, Chandresh & LD. I already have a desktop computer so not buying anything new. Laptop maybe, if I can sell of my desktop computer at a good price here.
LD, in India what is the configuration of laptops around the price range you have mentioned?
Jasmeek, not planning to carry anything else except digital camera which I had bought a few months back.

There are all the brands to choose from in India:
Toshiba
IBM
DELL
HP
COMPAQ
SAMSUNG
LG
ACER
HCL
ZENITH
& others.
Attraction for an user in India does not lie in price differential of 20% but in one year warranty which can be enhanced to 2 yr. warranty, in case something does go wrong.
However, if you equate the risk of damage/data loss v/s 10-20% additional price you are paying, it evens out.
So the decision lies with the buyer, whether he/she values discount or prompt service.
However most brands offer Global Warranty. If you ensure that you are getting Global Warranty while purchasing, then buying cheapest surely makes sense, as advised by alexm.
Incidentally I was not suggesting any preference for any point of purchase.
I was only trying to help, so that Rajand can make an informed decision.
My post is not intended to inculcate a bias for puchasing laptop/desktop in India.
Remember, Rajand is already a big-boss in that trade!
Good point on warranties...when I bought my laptop I made sure it had an intnernational warranty.
My brother bought a Dell recently from the States, and he was told that too had an intl warranty.
The Acer TM (not sure about Aspire) also has an intl warranty.
In my experience, if something were to break, it would happen in the first fw months so a 1 yr warranty should be enough.
But I do agree that comfort gained from the warranty is definitely a personal decision.
