He was dropped from the team for the first test against England. Means this is the end of intl cricket for Ganguly. Did well for some time. But its time to move on. Had a open feud with the coach, Greg Chappel though he thought he had the backing of the board president.

Even now our regional divide exists.

As long Dalmiya was the President of BCCI, Ganguly ruled the roost. Now as Dalmiya is gone, Ganguly has to face the music. The BCCI power center was mostly centered at Mumbai. It moved for a while to Calcutta. It is back to Mumbai now. Sachin will continue till Sharad Pawar rules the roost. Once it did go to the Karnataka Camp also. Hence we will find the quota system going on.

This system exists in all the India sports and now a days it has extended itself to the TV shows also. For example : The Sa Re Ga Ma Pa show, where the better singers are getting knocked out, while Debojit looks like will win the show as the whole North East is voting for him. Even the most individual singer Hema Chandra was knocked out of the ranking last week even after singing the best song of the whole show series. Which was acknowlged by Himesh Reshammaya. The good news is that Hema Chandra is singing for Subash Ghai and that would be a better launch in comparison to singing for Mithun Chakroborthys son like Vineet. The advantage Hema Chandra has will be that he could sing in Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu his mother tongue, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam. He will have a whole range like Jesudas.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....

"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

Unfortunately, Ganguly still has a few years of cricket in him. But things must go on.

Hemachandra was definitely among my favourites on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa & probably the best too. Debojit's voice was good but he did not have the range that Hemachandra or Vineet had. Among the girls, Himani, Swananda & Nihira were the best.

Rgds.
