Hello,

I've applied for Canadian immigration (without IELTS exam) through Buffalo in mid Nov, 2005. I got the file number within 2 weeks after that.

Today I've received a letter from them asking me to submit IELTS exam result within 120 days. I've few questions related to my case.

1) I have neck to neck points for immigration - if I get 16/16 points in IELTS exam.

2) If I don't get 7 Bands in each module, result in no 16/16 point then may be I'll not qualify, I wonder I would not be able to write my IELTS exam again as consulate general asked me to write within 120 days from now and I get all the dates in April? So what happen if I can't make 7 Bands in each module. Even after 120 days they allow me to write IELTS once again to me or not if I request them?

3) And the most important I am being asked to appear for IELTS exam within 3.5 months after I applied for my immigration. What does this mean, is canadian consulate are processing my application faster or they think I don't qualify so they asked me for IELTS in such a short duration. (Generally IELTS is being asked somewhere after 1 year)

Experts please comment here.

Thanks in advance..

i don't know if ur question is for masoodji or anyone on the board, but I am just giving u my opinion on ur issue.
1st thing is, IELTS is compulsory now days for all the applications of skilled worker class, if ur first language is not english.
2nd IELTS is not that tough as people think around. it is just a question of putting all ur energy and grammer u know in the test. and for preparation there are lots of coaching centres who also offer hint questions for speaking module. and they really prepare you for IELTS, and definately you can score 7 band in each module if u work hard.
3rd thing, YES they will definately reject your case if u fell short of 67 marks. the main reason for this will be ur english, canada is country of english speakers not gujrati, punjabi or tamil. and in cases where people fell short in IELTS, other things come into account like their education and work exp. but if u don't make 67 and u score less in IELTS too then u r gone with wind.
4rth they always check when u send ur file to them for the proof of IELTS attach with the application, u must had not attach that proof and thats why they are asking you for IELTS.
so my advice will be to give IELTS and send them the copy.
hope my advice will be helpful to you and others around shipping in same boat.

hey Indian guy,

I am not expert but i have gone through this situation and i talk to lawyers about this so According to me

1>yes, to eligible for immigration you need to have 67 points.
2>Once you register for IELTS send them that registration copy of examination date and if in case you dont clear this time they are extending to another 120 days.
3>Before they use to ask IELTS at the time of IA but now they check documantion first. Now a days they ask IELTS for everybody earlier not only you.
I hope this can help
best luck for your exam.

Can't you take IELTS, and if it is not OK, repeat next month again till you are OK with the score?

:)

We can't take IELTS every month. You can only apply after 3 months of your exam date.

yeah 7wonders is right, you can't give the exam every 2nd day. there should be the gap of atleast 3 moths before taking the exam.
