Some posts on this website give the impression that many desis use Canadian citizenship as a stepping stone to the US. Can anyone throw light as to how having Canadian citizenship would help moving to the US or getting a job in the US. I am aware that a Canadian citizen does not need a visa to enter the US and can stay there for 6 months. But to work there I am sure a work permit visa would be neccessary. For those in the IT field, the benefits can be seen. They can continue to look for openings in IT while in Canada but what about people in other fields - accounting, engineering etc?

There is a visa known as TN visa which is very easy to get once you find employment in US (can be got only with Canadian citizenship). Look for it elsewhere in this forum + see this link : http://www.canadiandesi.ca/read.php?TID=9032

Sidenote : If you do a labour job to survive in Canada, by the time you get your citizenship your already lose your skills and are unable to move to USA. This is what i have observed only and should not be consituted as law.
