My wife got HER passport requisition letter yesterday from CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSION,NEWDELHI .Here are the details

PLEASE RETURN THIS FORM WITH THE REQUESTED DOCUMENTS

1. Original passports for you and your accompanying dependants (See below for details). Please note that your surname must be endorsed on your passport. The names Kaur and Singh do not qualify for the purpose of immigration to Canada

My question is what is meant by
"Please note that your surname must be endorsed on your passport."?
Can anyone of you explain based upon your experience, what this means? Does this mean that my (husband's) surname name should be included in her passport or we need to get a new passport which mentions my surname?

FYI, My wife dint change her last name after marriage because we thought its not mandatory.

First,

Congratulations on receiving a letter. That was surprising. I mean no update on website and you still get the letter from embassy. lol.

The answer to your question is, Your wife's surname should be there on the passport. Its not necessariy that your wife's passport should have your surname. I think some passports will have Kaur and singh instead of original surname and I think they do not want that.

I am not too sure about this thought. I am just guessing.

listen buddy...congrats for your letter...i think its imp for your wife to have your last name as hers...so get it endorsed from the local passport office....and then send the passports...

Boy in the letter they stated that my wife has to send her passport either by register post or by courier.

Here are my timeliness

1)File reached to CPC Mississauga on April03,2006
2)CPC MISSISSAUGA started processing on May8th 2006
3)Sponsorship approval letter sent on may11th2006 and it reached me on may19th,2006
4)File reached to delhi and they started processing on May25th,2006.They updated ecase status online on june4th 2006.
5)Passport requesition letter reached to us on june5th 2006.

Kkiki/Arnab/Mukherjeee... can u give ur opinions sir on my ecase...do i need to change my wifes surname on her passport???Did u get similar letter????
