From my experience and based on posts on this site it takes anywhere between 4 to six weeks to get your passport back stamped. So If I were you I would wait one week or 10 days and e-mail delhi consulate. I did e-mailed delhi consulate for the status of my wife's passport but on the same dayshe got her passport back. So I am nor sure whether that e-mail had any effect in my case

Thankyou Kishore......Even we have decided to wait for one more week and then email delhi canadian high commission.As you said it normally takes 4-6weeksto get the passport back.Will wait for an other week and then email them.

Hi Everyone,

First of all let me thank all the members of CD for making this such a wonderful source of information. Almost all my initial questions were answered by just reading through the postings. But I still have one question.

My wife's passport is with her full name ( first name & sur name) but her rest of the documents (marriage certificate, birth certificate, school certificate & university certificate) only have her first name and initial.

I will soon be submitting the application to sponsor my wife with her full name ( first name & sur name).
Do you think it will create any confusion or delay in the process ?
Do you know of any other document which I could submit to avoid any possible delays ?

Briefly

i applied for my spouse sponsership end april and file was sent to delhi in Mid may.

My spouse got her visa in october. so total time: 6 months few days.
CHC sent us a request for passport in August beginning which we never got due to indian postal delays.

i sent an email to the CHC in September asking for an update (in case you dont know if it has been more than 6 months from time of application CHC will respond back else it wont). thats when i got to know that theer was a rqst for passport. passport was sent in around sep 20 and we hasd the visa issued and recieved passport back in 3-4 weeks.

my case was delayed a bit as we need some more security papers as my wife worked in Doha as well

advice for everyone:
1. dont spam the chc with emails.
2 send email in proper format i.e subject line should definitly contain File # / Spouse name / DOB
3. Body of email should contain all details including your address and name and contact info. state clearly that it has been more than 6 months, they get a lot of emails.
