If the link does not open, here is an alternate web site with details of the Universities and institutions that are enabling the International students to work through their cooperation. : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/institutions/participants.asp

Does anyone know of universities that let you work from day 1 like those in US providing day 1 CPT to work? For such universities, the classes are held online which makes it easier to work in IT consultancy companies.

Here is a link to the CIC website here in Canada.

Hope this answers your query. The answer is there in one of the queries. (Working off Campus.)

Good Luck.

FH.

Universities or collages have nothing to do with work permits/immigration matters.
An international student in Canada can work upto 20 hours (legally) and full time during summer if they do not have to take the classes.
If the program has coop or work component which a studnet supposed to complete as a part of curriculum to graduate ... then they can work fulltime duinrg that semester.
Once a student graduate, he/she gets Postgraduate work permit from 8 months to 3 years ( depends upon the program length) ... it is like OPT.

This might be a good news for University students who are serious. College students anyways just work off campus on Cash jobs (which is undocumented and does not require any permit) for wages as low as 2-3$/hr and don't even study. I know lot of them who do this and lot of desi employers who take advantage of this. I have never done this but I know lot of them.

That is true. But you will never find anyone who works for $2 to $3 hr. Most of the palces employers pay $9 to $10 ... but they save lot on taxes. In some food places they may be paid slightly less but they get food.
