It happens when you listen to a third-rated singer who hardly knows singing.. I do not blame the villagers.
Better to stick with the regular singers
Hey Meghal,
I was curious to know the basis on which you have written Himesh off as "a third rate singer who hardly knows singing". Admittedly, his nasal voice does grate on my nerves after a while, but that's just his vocal tone. From an A&R point of view, he has perfect pitching, great vocal modulation and tremendous feel. But I seriously would like to know how you hear him.
meghal,
Grow up, man.
U can do better than this. Some idiot/stupid gujju villagers say something and u think they are right?
If u dont like Himesh's voice, u dont have to listen. But dont use some idiotic incidents to support your claim.

Excerpts from the article:
Interestingly, this Reshammiya score invites trouble only for members of the Muslim community.
For Hindus living in the village of about 8,000 residents, there is a Gujarati hit number Sanedo sanedo that is believed to invite evil, a witch that harasses women in particular.
"A woman, Sushma, died of cancer some years ago. People say her husband didn't perform any rituals after her death. The local belief is that Sushma possesses women who sing the song at a particular time of day," said Jayanti Patel (45).

Don't you think that not having an irritating voice is the basic prerequisite for a good singer?
There is a huge difference between being nasal like Mukesh and being nasal like Kumar Sanu or Himesh
And IMHO, he is popular more because of continuous exposure of his songs on INdian channels. When i was in India, I was driven nuts by all channels showing this song. In addition, when I went to Rhythm House, they too continuously looped the song. He should stick to what he is doing - composing music.
Worst, he has been roped in by RGV to score music for Sholay, and he will sing "Mehbooba Mehbooba". That is a matter of disgust for a RDB fan like me.

Hi Meghal,
It's OK that you think he is a terrible singer. I only wanted to know why you think that way.
Many others think Himesh is fantastic and he ended up getting the "Best Playback Singer Award" in this year's Filmfare Awards ceremony.
However, there is a flaw in your reasoning as to why you think he is popular and I thought I should explain to you how the music and media industry in India works.
After the first few days of the initial launch, the frequency with which a song is aired depends on the popularity of the song (there are ways by which the airing channel can monitor this) and not vice versa . The fact that his songs got aired so many times even after his launch was because they became very popular.
I wish the secret to make a song popular was as simple as what you think it is----- air it several times. It would save the people working in the music industry a lot of stress and every music company would be generating hit after hit.
