To My Fellow CD Members:

I'm in the market to upgrade from my picture tube TV to a flat/thin/small and petite TV as the picture tube TV of mine 32\" is a big headache while moving.

Has anybody had past experience in terms of a 32\" LCD or Plasma TV. I heard that the Plasma TV tends to burn out after a couple of years, is it true?.

Are all the LCD and Plasma TV's HDTV ready?.

What do you think, whether I should buy a LCD or a Plasma TV?.

What should I look for, what are good brands and where can I get a good deal on the same?.

Your info is highly appreciated.

Best Regards,

starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

Hi Shankaracharya,

I hv some decent experience with these items.

1. To decide between LCD /Plasma, first finalise the size. Generally, LCD is not available over 40" and if available, it is very expensive.

2. Plasma start in sizes over 40"

3. Burn out issue is the same between plasma and lcd - 60,000 hrs

4. There are a lot of other technical considerations, so it will be better if we meet or you can PM me your email, will give personal advice.

5. Also I can get you very good deals in canada on these stuff.

Rgds,

Hiren

Hi Hiren,

I am in a process of finalising on LCD/PLASMA/REAR PROJECTION or DLP TVs. Please guide me if you have done some research. Let's talk.

Regards,

VJ.

yes, i will appreciate if you could guide CD's whenever you get a moment, on this as we also went to hit the shops and realized there was a lot to consider in makin a decision...we are looking for a 50" size, with children playing video games..(as in burnout possibility for the plasma?)

Thanks,

As I replied before, each individual case is different depending upon location of TV, family members, major use, life expectantcy, social status and last but not the least -budget.

I believe even S'karacharya has done a detaled study should be able to shed some of his knowledge.

The most common issues, I have already covered in the earlier post, for anything more specific, anyone can PM me.

All the best guys.

Hiren

If you are going to live in high rise building ( or around 7000 ft above sea level) than I would suggest you SHOULD NOT buy the Plasma TV as altitude does effect the performance and life span of Plasma TV.

And prey tell me what would be the average altitude of a 20th floor in high rise building in GTA?

Saying that we should have not have a plasma TV above the altitude of 7,000 ft is of no use if none of the high rise building in major cities in Canada are not above that level..............or all of them are usually above that level. It might be correct information but information of no value.
