Remember, a few months back Hamas won the elections in Palestine and all western countries got worked up? well nothing has happened so far.
I'm no fan of Modi, but the Hamas analogy is a stretch. Modi did not "invent" riots between Hindus and Muslims in Gujarat, they've been going on for decades now, way before his time. Gujarat has always been and remains a hot-spot for this kind of activity, whatever the underlying reasons may be. The shameful thing is that in the end, most of the people who wind up dead are the innocents. And this applies to both sides.
Modi will never become become party president, let alone PM. "Wishful thinking" is a gross understatement if any of his supporters have such ideas.

Hi,
By the "train incident", did you mean the burning of the compartment of Sabarmati Express? You are right, the incident was found to be an accident.
So how come you've added that to support your views about the Modi government?
Isn't your stand weakened by the fact that a clean chit was given to the "train incident"? --- Cause the Hindu rioters had used the burning compartments as a justification to slaughter (Yes, it was slaughter) many Muslims in 2002.

You have used this term "secular" Indians a lot before. Assuming you are using this term disparagingly(as do others who have been fed on some supremacist ideology/propaganda or the other, indicative in your posts...i could be wrong).
Since you are in Canada which is overwhemingly Christian but a secular country...would you refer to yourself as a "secular" Canadian in a similar manner? OR does suddenly "secular" take a whole new meaning for you when you are no longer in the majority?
In other words, according to your version of the 'truth'... Is "secular" a good word in Canada and NA and a bad word in India?
OR
is it just you?

Are you deliberately trying to create a stir? and a "few thousand"? How many? It can range from two to twohundred thousand. Are you acussing NM of genocide?
And how about the recent ugly controversy about removing an illegal "dargaah" in Vadodara, that created unnecessary riots?
Does your heart also cry out of thousands of Hindus slaughtered by terrorists in Punjaab and Kashmir?

What the..?! So mobs killing a few of the muslims in the neighborhood under the tacit aproval of the state machinery is the solution?
By that logic going after a few 'brownies' after the wtc destruction sounds like a good idea too. All it needed was a slight push from the politicians for that to happen. If you had been thru forums you would have seen that there was enough anger to exploit.
You think its a good idea if 200 of us would have been killed/torched/hacked etc, under the blind eye of the liberals in Canada or the Republicans in the US
AAHH, I get it ! You guys suddenly turn 'civilized' when you come to the west.
NM is a hero because he more or less decided to turn a blind eye when his countrymen were being slaughtered.
Bush becomes a baddie sending his troops to make some collateral damage away from his shores. Atleast the anger was diverted away from his countrymen and used against others, consolidating their(US) economic interests in the bargain. The Indian politicians(the strong 'Nationalistic' ones especially), for all their rhetoric, do not have the will to do this.
Killing some of their own citizens is much more politically expedient. Ahhh...justice for the hindus at last!

It was not a government of india report. It was Lalu report, just created for the political advantage before Bihar elelection. How can a justice be like this I can never imagine in our country! If justice benarjee himself is travelling in that compartment and the compartment is on fire, and along with him there are other 60 people in the compartment and the compartment has four door, do you think that no-one in the compartment will try to escape? It was a fire and not an explosion. At least few people near the door should have tried to escape. Only Lalu, Banerjee and Diamond_v belives in this stupid report.
There is another legal commission working on this incident and yet they have to come-up with a report that should have the truth.

Hi Surti,
Do you understand the subtleties of the phrase, "found to be"?
Anyway, how did you manage to miss the entire point of my post?
