After 9/11, all the scissors, knives, etc were banned from carry on baggage. Not that they stuck to the rules. Slowly they allowed scissors, etc. Then came the shoe bomber. Then airports started screening the shoes. That was for a few weeks. Now no one checks shoes. Now the liquid bomb threat and banning gels, liquids, etc. How long will this go? There is no consistency.

IMO, this i sall kneejerk reaction. What next? As TK said the cargo will come seperately? Who knows, it may happen.
Some experts believe that this new rule may stay longer. Let's see.

Till they have machines that can detect liquid chemicals, liquids will be banned. I remember in the old days i.e in 2000 we had to start the laptop to make sure it was not a bomb in disguise. However, now they a handheld scanner that does the job so you donot have to start your computer. Shoes they still check but not 100 %. They select few people and ask them to check thoroughly. I am one of the lucky ones that always gets pulled aside for these. I believe does that randomly. Ted Kennedy is another one who is regularly pulled by computer for such checks.

One fallout of this thing I see happenning is increased ticket prices for airline travel. The passengers will have to bear the added cost of the increased security.

Sigh.

whatever is done is for the security of all passengers and most of them fail to understand this...cos even if one of them carry's any of the stuff..it is a threat to all's life!and u never knw who is the terroist..untill u see him on the plane saying"this plane is been hijacked"
so being a gud citizen..jus try to be there..well before time to avoid delays and get all ur secuirty checks!
