The issue is of personal responsibility. If I know the rules and I know the consequences but I still go ahead and break them, what can I expect?
But in the spirit of being a helpful citizen of CD, let me tell you that those that have had their PR status renewed did nothing special. The immigration officer has some discretionary powers to re-assign your status. He/She will look for extenuating circumstances that forced you to stay out of your adopted country. He/She will want to hear further and re-newed commitments to Canada.

There is a very short and realistic answer to the question.
No one knows what will happen. It is up to the CIC officer.
So the only way to find out is to try coming and see what happens.
I'm not sure, but does RRP (Returning Resident Permit) still exist? Would getting something like that from India help?

Are you there?
Blue Lobster is right. I forgot to mention this. You can apply for a Travel document which I believe is the same as the Returning resident permit.

However, if you have not met the residecy obligations then effectively, either you would have to lie on this form or send it in to the Canadian consulate in India or wherever you are and see if they grant you the permit even if you have not met residency obligations.
u need to apply for a travel document from CHC.Usually they give travel document in 3 to 4 days if they are satisfied with your reason or they may call u for an interview
Hi,
Thanks to all of you for your reply. I started contacting couple of lawyers and thier intial assessment is that, I need to generate proof showing valid reasons to stay outside Canada. But is really surprise that no CD had such experiance.
I do not require to get any treavel documetns since I have valid PR card with me.
Thanks agian.
I am planning to land to canada very soon. Wish me a best luck.
Welcome back to Canada!
