Can somebody please clarify what is the time line to get "Overseas citizenship of India".
Do you get it in 15days as is the case with PIO card.
I will appreciate if people who have applied and got this OCI certificate can clarify.
Three to four months
I got my OCI in 3.5 months. Applied in mid-December '05 and got it in early April.
Thanks Desi, Freak
So do they keep the Passport and other documents with them for 3- 4 months?
Or they only request those once the OCI is ready to be delivered.
Now if you plan to go to India during this time, do you get the Visa/PIO card or do they escallate the OCI process.
My family plans to travel around May end, So what do you recommend Is it better to apply for PIO card first and then try OCI (as it takes longer) or apply directly for OCI in mid december.
I think Consulate General India does not issue PIO anymore.
They do not keep your passport and when your case is processed then you have to go to High Commission with your passport
Is it (Dont issue PIO card anymore). Their website doesn't say anything.
Do you have their email contact, where they actually respond to your queries.
Call them up.
