Raising nerds :)

One good thing about Indians is that we can now sit in a class at university and (for a new class) and the professor already assumes that you are smart because of your Indian heritage.

I must be dumb- couldn't understand what the kid said most of the time- though I know he was giving the capitals of the states of the United States of America
Wonder if he knows the capital of India and its states.

Surely we desis are raising nerds. Sit before a computer wearing glasses. Parents feel that they have a scientist at home. The kids wont mix with others, desi or non-desis. That's all to it.

I think you cant generalize. There has to be a balance. The importance of school and learning balanced with socialization and interpersonal development.

Some desi kids I see around me do not have manners. They are not taught 'please and thank you's.

Others have impeccable manners.

It depends on the parents.
