AHHH yeah...that makes a lot of sense,
outsourcing IS a great idea, and appears to be very lucrative too...
the examples you mentioned are inspirational.
i guess the greatest advantage would be the lack of investment required, and hence literally no risk.....??
Most broker/indenting type business involves no start up capital. In the case of the outsourcing guys, they were working full time and devoting part-time to the outsourcing until their business incomes replaced their salary and they made it full time.
Initial expenses were time and gas and frustration at the 'nos' they got. But it's a numbers game. For every 'no' you get you are closer to the 'yes' and that's when you strike paydirt literally. One of the guys who told me about his 1st deal- it was 9600 man hours per month for 3 months. Basically a small outsourcing outfit of 20 people for 16 hrs a day or 320 hrs a day or 9600 hrs a month. He made $1 per hour or $9,600 a month between him and his Canadian partner, month after month for 3 months and then the contract was cemented for a year, so you bet he left his job and devoted full time to this. It took him 8 months to get the deal. This was 3 years ago.
Nowadays the profit per hour is less as there are many players in the plain vanilla market. So he has graduated to more involved work where the money is pretty damn good though he hasn't given up the vanilla stuff. In his own words, no matter how many flavors of kulfi come out- pistachio, mango, kesri, badami, the original malai is still the best. And it seems he makes a lot of malai.
Anyway, the whole deal is very interesting and could fill a book.
Any takers? Sounds enticing right? But I see him work and work sometimes with no deal for months- then whammy! It's not a business of regular deals but a business of regular trailers- that's what's good. The danger here is that after a year or so the outsourcer develops a relation with the outsourcee and the broker is squeezed out. This has happened to him with various companies, so he has to keep on prospecting to fill the pipeline.
Hope that primer info helps.
