I tried doing a search for this. I did get 3 results back in Charcha but when I tried to actually click on the results I got hundreds of links returned so I'm hoping CDs can help me.

Are prices good at the outlet stores like Gap, Polo, Polo etc? I mean significantly reduced from regular US retail prices? Or are they higher being so close to the border, since a lot of the shoppers must be Canadian.

After taking into account the import duties (6.1%?) is it still worth going there?

I was there last month. It is a chance that you may or may not get deals but for sure not at all stores at one time. When I was there Tommy, Calvin and Cornings were having good prices but all other stores were not that attractive. Some one went one week after for Tommy stuff but found the prices were not that attractive but he found good stuff at Polo and Old navy.

There is 4% tax in Buffalo.

If you returning same day then you will be allowed $50 each person without duty.

Thanks for the reply. I think I will drive down and check it out; at worst it's a waste of a day or so.

Of all the outlet malls I have visited in the US, the Niagara Falls outlets are by far the most expensive and have the least number of 'deals' but given that we are in Canada we don't have much of a choice. I guess outside of Canada, this is the most logical outlet mall to go to.
Having said that I'm not surprised, given its proximity to Canada they know that a lot of Canadians go there and almost as a rule of thumb Canadians are used to higher prices in Canada, so why not try to take advantage of it?

That's exactly what I thought...the prices being higher than most other outlet malls. Still, perhaps better than nothing if you aren't planning a longer trip to the States.

The Tommy store in Heartland Ctr has surprisingly good prices though. Lots of times I've found better stuff and at lower prices than Gap at their retail stores. Gap prices are a rip off nowadays. And forget about BR...

Compared to the fake "outlet" malls in Canada (confined only to the ones I know), the one in Buffalo was a pleasant surprise for my wife and I. She also found designs not found in stores here.

And you're right, I found it was worth a trip.
