What do you do to make it better ?

I know the answers movie / restaurant / develop hobbies / reading / music / study ..........I cant do all this with a one year old. And I know I can leave him with baby sitter but I prefer not to as Mon to fri he already goes there and i would rather keep him with me atleast on weekends.

I can take him with me but then its more of a headache then entertainment.

Any comments ? Other sakhis --your input ?

You are on CD and you find it dreary? That too with TK around?

Forget everybody else, just invite TK over and you'll have a real gas of a time.
TK - you can really perk up a dude's day!

TK is like the jester in the Bard's works- provides humour and at the same time leaves the public with something profound to dwell upon.

You state that your child is only one years old. This stage of parenting will not last forever (which could be a motivating factor for you).

Do you feel you have made a realistic assessment of your situation or are you simply feeling 'down' and overwhelmed with the responsibilities of a baby on you? Can your spouse babysit for a few hours on saturday afternoon's or evenings (or whatever) so that you can take time for yourself and not feel guilty for leaving the child with a babysitter?

1) movies - most major cities have 'mom and baby' movie shows once a week. Can you attend those?
2) Some restaurants are very child friendly. do you have a network of mom's around you that would like an outing once a week to a restaurant/cafe with babies in tow?
3) reading- arrange your schedule so that while your baby naps, you can read. You can read with your baby nearby right?
4) Music: You can play whatever music you wish while spending time with your child.

When Im feeling bogged down by routine and mundane-ness of life (and im a sagittarius so I need constant change).. I try to change something small ie/ where I go to shop, the daily routine, drive a different way. Take a walk etc.

Its also normal to feel stuck in a rut. If you have a friend, or family member you feel comfortable talking to, you may wish to talk to them about your feelings. IF you feel it is serious and you cannot handle the situation on your own, you may also wish to look into professional counselling.

please keep us updated :)

hi, im in the same boat as you are .. i left india for canada and find life here
too lonely.. i came from a place where there was always someone around to
talk to, or call over the phone or go for walks on the promenades. here i find that everyone is too busy trying to make ends meet.. weekends are spent either cleaning up or planning for the week ahead.. no smiling faces around.. even if u decide to go for a walk and take in some fresh air its too cold and u end up all frozen, you're mind is more on how cold it is outside than on enjoying the walk. People talk about 'mall walking ' since when has staring hard at commodities and almost interacting with them, become so entertaining. we're thinking of moving to the UAE now.. proximity to india, ( can reach your relatives in case of emergency )and tax free.

It seems you have not tried enough! For me, its rare that I do not enjoy my weekends (and some weeknights even!) and am not with old or newly acquired friends.

Try something that Aashu did - she had a potluck at her place, and see how many turned up and we all had a good time! To make a new friend you sometimes have to take the risk of meeting strangers.

Hi There

Try meetup.com

They have links to groups in your local area based on common interests ie/ faiths, book clubs, couples groups etc etc.

Its a great way to meet people.

There are so many things to do in North America all over year and it also depends upon where you live.

It seems here are more fun than India (no interest to listen other people stories or giving the answers of stupid Q).

Yes, working and watching tv for 7 months is boring in winter.

You can go skinning, snow walk, pubs, restaurants, walk in the malls, jogging, can going jym. You can book winter travel plan to Vancouver/Whistler or Banff. That is so much fun in Rockies Mountains.
You need proper clothing for winter here. Canada sells proper clothing from 0'C to -50'C in most of the malls for all the age groups. Only thing you need to know what and where to buy and how to layer yourself for winter fun. There is Canada winter games in Whitehorse and people are enjoying there.

If you don't enjoy the winter then Canada is not good for you.

Remember what attitude you have with winter same will your kids feel. My son likes to go out for walk on running path next to freezing lake and he is just 2.5 yrs old. Kids can not sit 7 months at home or in car.
