I'm not sure about Canada but if you are in US you can subscribe to "Vonage World" package for $24.99 ( Comes close to $30 including taxes ) & that includes free unlimited calls to landlines & Cell phones for certain countries ( Includes India). Although they say unlimited but i guess they monitor when you exceed 5000 min's per month or you have been using for business purpose but it's practically not possible to come close to that unless you are one the phone couple of hours every day. For 30$ a month this is a great deal as you have the flexibility to call any number at anytime. Hope this helps.

This isnt about mobile. The query is for home phone.

Go with Primus. Comwave is a nightmare to deal with. As mentioned before they will try to sweet talk you into a deal and the customer service is bad.

For home phone, another option available is Teksavvy. I got it recently for 25 dollars(approx) including tax with no features an no contracts. I may add call display later for extra 3 dollars. Please note that this is NOT a voip phone.

Has any one tried Magic jack? I would recommend to check it out its a good feature VOIP phone and can be taken with you while travelling, so many countries you can talk as local phone.Check out the web site.
Rogers, Bell are sucking our hard earned $$.
