Yes, I agree with the rest. I feel Mississauga would be a better choice with respect to renting, close to groceries, schools even if you don't have a car to start with. Brampton, well I haven't heard many positive things abt it.

So, are u already here in Canada? Or gonna come?

Cimmigrant, we are currently out of Canada but plan to relocate in 2009 or may be 2010.

A white canuck friend of mine, who's house-hunting these days, told me the other day:

Well. I see a point in what he is saying. But then we Indians also gather in a specific region (which we perceive as white dominated, cheap and crime free) and we move in to make it a ghetto and the white people are afraid of the Ghetto and move. Some one else makes a Ghetto in the place where the whites have moved too and the whites move elsewhere.
Parts of Brampton, Scarborough,Jane/Finch are all major examples.
Univ. of Toronto is seen as a Mongolion university and the area around that place is fully occupied by the mongolians.
So what you should say to the white person is that " It is your choice buddy. Just like we move in to your place, you should either adjust with us or make a move elsewhere".

Hi, to catch up on this old thread, we moved to Canada (Oakville) last year, in fact on 3rd Sep we complete an year in this country!

"White flight" is not usually to get away from Asians. White people do not usually openly express a desire to live away from immigrants in the GTA, at least not in my experience as a white person living in the GTA. Its more common for me to hear of friends from different minorities wanting to live amongst people from their own cultural group, but even then its usually the older generation that wants this. Given the projected numbers for immigration in the GTA region it would not be very easy for one to segregate themselves from immigrants so its better to embrace or at least accept the change. Hopefully all people can lessen their desire to live solely amongst their own or else Canada will become a further divided nation.
