I-94 must be returned to US Boder and Customs authorities not to canadian...

Nope, it is to be surrendered to cdn official if you are returning to Canada. Read at the back of I-94, it is clearly mentioned there.

You can return the I-94 to Canadian customs and in case you are flying from US , you can hand it over to the airlines even.

You can return the I-94 to Canadian customs and in case you are flying from US , you can hand it over to the airlines even.



Normally, the airline staff does not take it off when you are flying from the US to Canada. That is why the instructions are clearly written on the I-94 to hand it over to the cdn immigration official.

U are right, I said US authorities because i always surrender mine at US Airport.

The fact that I did not surrender my TN las time, will it get me in trouble in future if I apply for TN?

It is possible, if their database is not updated and shows as if you overstayed.
But you said that last time you were not questioned, correct? If that is the case, you "should" be okay!
