I personally haven't travelled anywhere with Aeroflot. However I am told they have a very old fleet of planes and are deemed unsafe. Now, a lot of my Russian friends travel with Aeroflot and don't give a two cents about its reputation.

But you just cannot compare it with KLM which is one of the better airlines out there I think.

So its your choice. My opinion? I would not travel with Aeroflot even if they paid me :)

My suggestion is don't even think about aeroflot. my friends had very bad xperience with them. There service is very bad and the food they give you is like left over from somewhere. like raj said they have old fleet.
KLM is one of the best airlines.

I took Aeroflot two years ago from Delhi to Toronto. In my opinion, the only thing I found bad was food, and my 4 hours stop over in Moscow. I have travelled a lot and can assure you that other airlines offer no better food as well. All the inflight food is always crap in most of the airlines. Who likes the boiled food as if you're deceased of a sort.

The Aeroflot Flight Attendents are always pissed off as hell. They will never smile at you although those girls are damn hot. But, it's the Russian way of life. You can't expect any customer service from them. So, personally I couldn't care less about their smiling or non-smiling attitude. Each time I smiled at them, I tend to laugh as how can they live without a smile on their face. It's the same on Moscow airport. None of the attendents (although very hot) on a duty free shops or restaurants smile at you, and are pissed off completely.

As for the safety, I was told by one of the Aviation experts in Delhi that the Russian Airlines are the safest and the pilots are the most experienced in the world. But, it again depands, as our Russian fleet of Fighter planes crash every now and then.

Now comes to the point of ticket cost. This airlines is the least expansive, and I know many of Canadians often travel with the same due to the low cost. So, if you do not mind paying anything extra on KLM or for that matter any other airlines, I would suggest you to go for it. Ticket price was my major factor, so I took Aeroflot. Honestly, I didn't care much about the in-flight crew's plastic smiles and food.

So, here's my review on Aeroflot. I have never travelled with KLM so can't review it.

Safety: ****
Food: **
Service: **
Cost: *****
Overall: ***/5

Wishing you a good journey and good luck with your life in Canada.

OMG, where this inflation is heading to? In January, 2005 I paid 26,000 Rs. for Aeroflot and now it's 46000 Rs. It's good that at least I got a rough idea as my wife will be coming over in one month or so.
