Hi All,
I wonder why we don't have a "India town" here in Canada?
"Chinal Town" seems to be doing well.
I work with a real estate development company.
Anyone feels like encouraging me to build a "Little India"
I'm thinking a wholly cultural centre with a Gol Mandir and something really extravagant.
What is your response desis?

I would rather live in real India and not in India town.

Ok!
Sorry guys , this is not a residential complex idea.
Its more like a Gymkhana cum cultural centre.
It would be nice for someone to get a feel of India with people from so many cultures of India residing here.
I was thinking of perhaps,
An Arts theatre cum Movie Complex
Banquet Hall - Big enough to celebrate all Indian festivals and
Sports complex
Worship place
Early care foundation centre
Shopping Centre
Services - Like Bank's, medical and Govt
Other Services like - Accountants , Doctors etc
Social services
You name it.
All rolled into one mega complex.
BTW I am looking for positive feedback so all suggestions are welcome.
cheers

Hi Practive,
There is a launch of a complex to be named The Sitara. The project I believe is a 3 year project and from what I hear is something similar to the one you are planning.
The details are to be unveiled today and tomorrow at 648 Silver Star Blvd in Scarborough 10 am - 3pm at The Star Walk International Buffet
Perhaps you may wish to attend to scope out the competition or maybe get involved.
No harm in attending. It's open to the public and hey a free lunch to boot from what I hear. I will be attending, most likely Tomorrow as today being Sat I have tons of apptments.
Take care.

It depends. Can civic laws be enforced? You only have to look at Jackson Heights, NYC. Paan stains on the road, hapazard parking, blaring music, etc. Its an interesting place to visit, especially when you miss India, but...
Bjork
Bjork, not specifically pointing finger at you, but why do NRI's always bring up public cleanliness as an issue in any discussion concerning Indians?
