I don't know where you live, but State Bank of India in Canada could be a better choice to remit money. They are cheaper and resonably fast.

There is no limit on sending money out of Canada.

Thanks and regards.

I generally send money through my friends who ever is visiting India. Anyhow they need money there in Indian Currency, so they carry it. It is safe, cheap and assured.

Alternatively biomed suggestion is worth. I agree afterall we should do business with Indian companies or banks wherever possible and you are gainer not loser by having business with them

I also agree to that. In fact earleir I thought of going alone.Ofcourse due to kids exams and other reason. But I just got my visa week. Back and now I am planning to complete my kids exams as well as wind up house here and start all of us togather. Only reason what Manjeet gave, having life partner with me in difficult times. I know of my cousine who is terribly home sick now who made mistake of not taking wife with him. He keeps calling his wife and us almost everyday and keep on grumbling for his mistake. His wife now all set to go eventhough he is not yet settled.

Also many time male will have to do some extra studies in order to get field jobs (P.E. or CPA like...) It is possible only if one of the member atleast making money run the show. SO that all your saving do not drain out before you realise.

I totally agree with Manjeet. My personal experiences also validate what Manjeet has mentioned about moral support from ones spouse.
Also My wife found a job sooner than I did. May or may not mean anything.

Jyoti and Murti,

Welcome to Canada. Coming from the Middle East should definitely give you an edge in terms of driving a vehicle, dealing with multi-cultural society and above all a better sustenance power.

As far as your qualification is concerned, it might not help you to find a job initially and you may have to enroll youself in some Canadian recommended courses/education in your line of work. You should be prepared to take up a co-op job in your field and this greatly helps to get absorbed in the Canadian workplace.

In my opinion, the head of the family can come here first and do the ground work (may be 1-2 weeks in advance) and the family can follow later.

I am myself an Ex-Dubai resident. We have seen that sometimes only one member of the family stays here with children. They leave Canada as soon as they receive their passports. This normally happens when one of the partner is doing exceptionally well at his/her present place of work. Most of the times they are not confident or do not want to risk leaving a good job or business.

We also know the other majority of folks who are in their mid-careers with younger kids and consider Canada as their home and will stay here for good. And I am one of those proud ones

Please let me know if I can in some way help you guys in settling down.
