I sent via courrier as well. The courrier will tell you whether your mail has been delivered. All courrier letters receive a code with which you can track the status of your mail online (e.g. on Canada Post, or Purolator, or FedEx).

If the courrier has successfully delivered your mail (and most likely they have, otherwise you would get your mail back), then it means CIC received it, but have not yet opened it and or entered into online system.

I strongly assume that when CIC opens your paper application, they must enter it into their online system. Only then is it available for viewing to you and to CIC agents at CIC general info telephone hotline.

I was also concerned for a while that my application may have gone lost, but I saw my status online and it says "RECEIVED". It would be senseless for me to call CIC to check on the status, when I can check the status online myself anyway.

I think above makes sense. Let me know if you have other options.

akkiluck and mkannuri, my app is sandwiched between you two(in terms of the timeframe -> Sep 6th). I sent mine in by regular mail and have not received anything yet. Will let you guys know when I do. Using kunato's timeline, I am optimistic that we should get something within the next 2 weeks.

I just check eCas and it displays my application status as received.

Does any one know how long it takes for the exam after first response?

time line for Windsor,ON
sent by regular post - Aug 29,2007
received by CIC - Nov 12,2007

Thanks

Guys, CIC online status gets updated ONCE a week on FRIDAY (I believe in the evening). It is senseless checking every day.

To post an 'update'.

Applied from Mississauga
Sent application by regular mail on Sep 4th.
I believe 10 days ago (which would be about about Nov 9th-10th) I was able to see the status of my case online -> RECEIVED (doesn't say when it was receieved?)

I have still not received anything in the mail though..
