First it was Advani who recommended Bharat Ratna for Vajpayye
Then comes request for Jyoti Basu
Now HEIGHT of request
Our own MAYAWATI says for Kanshi Ram
Whats going on?
Is it so cheap to honour anyone this award

Why Cheap? All of them have qualities that would get them a nomination for this award ..... atleast.......... Look at some of the past receipents .... considering that i think all of the above have a shot at it.
Rajiv Gandhi was involved with Bofors case when he was awarded ..... atleast none of the above have any corruption charges against them.
I can understand Atal Bihari Vajapayee and Jyoti Basu being nominated.
However, I don't believe Kanshi Ram has the length of public service to justify the award.
Just my personal opinion.
It's kind of like the Dadasaheb Phalke award for music.
To this day, I believe it was incorrect to give it to someone like Bhupen Hazarika (back in mid-1990s).
I haven't kept track of its receipients since then, but that was so wrong.
Not because he doesn't have the talent of whatever, but the length of service has to be taken into account.

To me, only Vajpayye is real candidate for Bharat Ratna
Not sure exactly what for Jyoti Basu's name coming. Just because he is from Bengal
Also to say Kanshi Ram is Corrupt free, not a correct statement.
He & Mayawati is playing caste politics for so long
Does he still deserves this award?

There is more to Jyoti Basu then just being someone from Bengal...... he is the longest serving Chief minister in the country ........ he was chief minister of WB from 1977 till 2000. That in itself is an incredible feat.
Kansi Ram being corrupt because he plays caste politics is fair. Everyone in India is doing it ...in the name of religion, caste, group or ethnic background.
I might not agree with his brand of politics, but he has played an important role in highlighting the plight of dalits in India. That he did for his benefit ...... is some thing that may de debated but there is no doubt he did change the political landscape of India.That should be good enough to earn him a nomination..... who gets is ultimately is another thing

4 Late Pamulaparti Venkata Narasimha Rao - Ex- Prime Minister of India proposed by Kumar _Vadivelu. Who ignited the liberalization policy in India.
5 Modi - Current CM proposed by Kumar_ Vadivelu for very obvious reason

The liberalization had more to do with the current PM (Dr. Manmohan Singh) than the insipid Narasimha Rao.
