My concern is the lack of experience in the one-day side.
Instead of dropping Ganguly and Dravid, they could have kept them around as options, if needed.
Playing against Australia is never easy, especially in light of recent event.
I believe it would have helped to have Ganguly and Dravid in the 16 member side rather than sending them packing.

As puttoo said, the move may work, but it's a big if.
It's possible that Australia may make mincemeat out of an inexperienced Indian team.

I dont know if Dhoni wanted to get rid-off Saurav or Rahul or anyother players. Since when Selectors started listening to Captains? Time will tell what happens to Dhoni & his 'demands' once team starts loosing a lot than winning. But younger lot is desired in ODIs. There is always 'Ifs' & 'Buts' in ODI. In any case, mere selection of Rahul & Saurav does not guarantee Victories (I wish).

Besides, I have seen that more often or not unknown/newer player has played bigger role in Winning against AUS.

Lets See Team Selection:
1. Viru
2. Sachin
3. Rohit
4. Yuvi
5. Robin
6. Dhoni
7. Pathan
8. Bhajji
9. P Kumar/Chawla
10. RP
11. Sree
12. Raina

Fight is only for One Position #3. I'll like to see Rohit Sharma at #3 but Team will go with Gambhir. I find Rohit more compact and better fit for Dravid's Shoe, he can still make it but at expense of bowler. and in that case, 5th Bowler will be Viru, Rohit & Yuvi and of course Sachin.

In this team and series, we will see Sachin as an Anchor. Not a bad idea to make him play at #3, but he is always reluctant to come out of that Opening Slot.

It was painful to watch the T20 match today. No one wanted to stick around and build a partnership. Hope they will get better during one day matches.

Idiotic batting, unimaginative bowling, sluggish fielding coupled with a bankrupt captaincy ……… my take on this match ……. Hope they recover from here and perform to their capabilities.

I would have been surprised if had done any better... No practise matches before taking on Aus in Aus!! Guess BCCI needs to reduce the number of matches and instead plan it properly. Sunday match could again be a one sided affair!

Let's see how Dhoni comes out as a captian.

I am not surprised by what happen in 20-20 match

If you take playesr like Gambhir, Rohit Sharma & other Company
in place of Ganguly, Dravid etc..., its going to happen again in ODI also

Lets hope we atleast win 1 or 2 ODI matches against Aus

Only age shd never be criteria for any game
Just see Aus. They still have Hayden & other company who I suppose
are above 35
While in India, we see Dravid & Ganguly who are still in 33-34 out of ODI as well as 20-20

Nothing but politics

I am very surprised about Yuvraj. With strong teams like Aus, he either don't perform or either injured
But he get weak teams like Pak, Bangladesh, Kenya he is KING

God save Indian cricket!
