I am planning to migrate to canada soon from the US. Actually i am planning to open a grocery store with a To Go kinda food parcel.
On a medium scale how much money would i need to invest. If i invest 50% are there any chances that goverment would help me with loan of about 50%/
Can you please guide me in this. I would also like to know if grocery store is a good business. I am particularly interested in Vancouver, the second choice would be toronto or alberta.
Thanks friends
See the long list of Indian Grocery stores in Canada on this site.
Why you want to enter is so much competitive market?
Banks are not giving loan to any body without Canadian Credit Report. As Grocery stores have more value in good will than in stocks, it would be difficult to open a store for new comer.
Still there are places where Indians are growing and you can start a store, but not sure where.
While ago somebody from Halifax reported on this board that they are not getting any Indian Groceries there - may be one can consider such places.
You must be a Gujarati or Punjabi to open an Indian Grocery store in Canada

In canada, no banks or financial institution provide finance for Inventory. Only you may avail vendor credit but that is available only when your purchases are good from them and you have good credit history.
for infrastructure such as leasehold improvements, vehicle, shop, equipments, etc you may get finance with even 20%.
There are some benefits to self employed from governement. You may visit the site of governemtn of Canada and Ministry of finance, Ontario for further information.
