Hey CDs,
I received the following article in mail. I don't know how far it is true but just wanted to share this with everyone. Does anyone really know the truth?

Who owns the media in India ?

Recent Gujarat election have witnessed unaccountable money paid to media
persons of both, print and electronic by Saudi Arabia to discredit Modi and
the Hindutva forces, which Media did very faithfully without success.

There are several major publishing groups in India , the most prominent
among them being the Times of India Group, the Indian Express Group, the
Hindustan Times Group, The Hindu group, the Anandabazar Patrika Group, the
Eenadu Group, the Malayalam Manorama Group, the Mathrubhumi group, the
Sahara group, the Bhaskar group, and the Dainik Jagran group.

Let us see the ownership of different media agencies.

NDTV: A very popular TV news media is funded by Gospels of Charity in Spain
Supports Communism. Recently it has developed a soft corner towards
Pakistan because Pakistan President has allowed only this channel to be aired in
Pakistan . Indian CEO Prannoy Roy is co-brother of Prakash Karat, General
Secretary of the Communist party of India . His wife and Brinda Karat are sisters.

India Today which used to be the only national weekly which supported BJP
is now bought by NDTV!! Since then the tone has changed drastically and turned
into Hindu bashing.

CNN-IBN: This is 100 percent funded by Southern Baptist Church with its
branches in all over the world with HQ in US. The Church annually allocates
$800 million for promotion of its channel. Its Indian head is Rajdeep
Sardesai and his wife Sagarika Ghosh.

Times group list:
Times Of India, Mid-Day, Nav-Bharth Times, Stardust, Femina, Vijay Times,
Vijaya Karnataka, Times now (24- hour news channel) and many more...
Times Group is owned by Bennet & Coleman. 'World Christian Council¢ does 80
percent of the Funding, and an Englishman and an Italian equally share
balance 20 percent. The Italian Robertio Mindo is a close relative of Sonia
Gandhi.

Star TV: It is run by an Australian, who is supported by St. Peters
Pontifical Church Melbourne.

Hindustan Times: Owned by Birla Group, but hands have changed since Shobana
Bhartiya took over. Presently it is working in Collaboration with Times
Group.

The Hindu: English daily, started over 125 years has been recently taken
over by Joshua Society, Berne , Switzerland . N. Ram's wife is a Swiss
national.

Indian Express: Divided into two groups. The Indian Express and new Indian
Express (southern edition) ACTS Christian Ministries have major stake in
the Indian Express and latter is still with the Indian counterpart.

Eeenadu: Still to date controlled by an Indian named Ramoji Rao.
Ramoji Rao is connected with film industry and owns a huge studio in Andhra
Pradesh.

Andhra Jyothi: The Muslim party of Hyderabad known as MIM along with a
Congress Minister has purchased this Telugu daily very recently.

The Statesman: It is controlled by Communist Party of India.

Kairali TV: It is controlled by Communist party of India (Marxist)
Mathrubhoomi: Leaders of Muslim League and Communist leaders have major
investment.

Asian Age and Deccan Chronicle: Is owned by a Saudi Arabian Company with
its chief Editor M.J. Akbar.

Gujarat riots which took place in 2002 where Hindus were burnt alive,

Rajdeep Sardesai and Bharkha Dutt working for NDTV at that time got
around 5 Million Dollars from Saudi Arabia to cover only Muslim victims, which
they did very faithfully. Not a single Hindu family was interviewed
or shown on TV whose near and dear ones had been burnt alive, it is
reported.

Tarun Tejpal of < <http://tehelka.com/>Tehelka.com regularly gets blank
cheques from Arab countries to target BJP and Hindus only, it is said.

The ownership explains the control of media in India by foreigners. The
result is obvious.

Thanks Sanjeev,

A part of the email looks like 'imagination', but there are ways to confirm traceable facts - like ownership of companies.

Interestingly I tried to search for owners of the Times of India Group on thier website and there is no mention. I am not sure if there is a law in India for public disclosure of ownership..

I also feel (IMO) the views of the papers are more managed by the editors and the Management team, though the owners may edit few uncomfortable news, but the majority day-to-day issues are handled by the full time editors and management (maybe I am wrong).

But I cannot digest the news about 'blank cheques' and cash paid from saudi or anyone from outside for anti-Modi/Hindu propoganda, there could be other issues as well.

The Media, commonly known as the 3rd estate in India does have a 'arm-twisting' side to it. Most known personalities have experienced soft blackmail from Media reporters or editors at one time or the other - it is a matter of choice/courage if they fall in line with thier 'demands' .

Interesting facts (if true) anyways..didnt know these before now.

Though not sure, believe Times of India Head is Nusli Wadia.
Meanwhile the Nanawati Commission Interim Report has been released and there is so much hue and cry over exonerating Modi. The “secularists” glossed over the fact that retired judge was appointed by the Supreme Court. They were prepared to give more credence to the commission hastily appointed by the Railway Minister Laloo in Sept 2004. This commission’s report by one Banerjee with Left leanings, was submitted in Jan 2005 prior to the Bihar election. This report almost declared that the pilgrims of the S-6 coach of Sabarmati Express, locked the coach from inside and set it fire themselves. But inspite of this fast food enquiry report Laloo could not win the Bihar election.

Most of the email forwards that sound sensational are false.

Facts : NDTV is a public limited company. The details of its shareholders is a public document and is available on http://www.bseindia.com." rel="nofollow">LINK stock code 532529

India Today is part of the TV today network which is a public limited company the details of its shareholders are there in http://www.bseindia.com" rel="nofollow">LINK

CNN-IBN is part of IBN18 which is a public limited company. The point that it is funded by Southern Baptist Church is baseless the details of its shareholders is available at http://www.bseindia.com" rel="nofollow">LINK stock code : 5328000

Vijay Times and Vijay Karnataka are owned by Vijay Mallya.

I stay in Andhra Pradesh and I am not aware of any Congress Minister and MIM leader buying Andhra Jyoti.

Deccan Chronicle is owned by Deccan Chronicle holdings limited. Details of its shareholders are available on http://www.bseindia.com" rel="nofollow">LINK, stock code : 532608 and MJ Akbar is no longer the Editor-in-Chief of Deccan Chronicle.

These are just few examples to prove that this is a malicious campaign by those who want to project that Indian media is 'bought over'. Before saying that so and so foreign company has invested one should know the fact that as on today no foreign investor can own more than 26 percent of the equity.

SanjeevM's report on the ownership is very interesting and given the media "coverage" of Kandhmal riots of Orissa, may be he is right. Some facts that were conveniently not mentioned by the media, but has come out thanks to Indian Express and auditor Gurumurthy are as follows.
The supposedly original event for the cause of the riot was the killing of one Lakshmananda Saraswati, a swamiji and classmate of Dayanada Saraswati in Haridwar. He was working against the conversion of poor and illiterate tribals in the district since 1969. But none of the english media mentioned the Swamji cut down by machine gun fire was 84 years old. Would the english media have omitted this fact if he had belonged to the minority religion?
That the district comprised of some 80% "Kandh" tribals and 20% "Bana". The latter are SC, approximately 20,000 had converted to Christianity in early 60s, but their numbers have risen 120,000 thanks to missionary and charity work.
That the converted Bana community had lost the privileges enjoyed by Scheduled Castes under the Constitution, but are agitating to regain the privileges only. This supposedly has the blessings of the Congress top brass in power at the Centre. The Kandh tribals are resisting this, as they are afraid that they may lose out in opportunities.

Though one cant prove this, I completely believe this. Even today after the blasts in Delhi, most of the media is sympathising with the suspects rather than the victims of the blasts. One never sees or hears anything from the victims but no stone is unturned in showing the police as the aggressors and the Muslims as the victims of communal interrogation by the police.
You see the contrast here in Canada, recently a young boy was sentenced guilty of fomenting terror and the Media is ruthless in reporting just the incident and not supporting or opposing anything the judge said or the relatives of the guilty think.
Also the periodic protests by Kashmiris is reported as though they are fighting for freedom and the Indian forces are restricting them. Can you believe that just a few years ago one had to switch to PAK TV or GEO channel to watch such biased garbage? I mean, these Kashmiris are openly displaying Pak flags when protesting and these guys are potrayed as innocents while the Hindu's protesting with the Indian National flags are shown as extremists. It is not even necessary to prove that Indian media are owned by enemies of India.

Why don’t u guys ACT on it ? At Least we can start sending them e-mail complain or our view regarding news.

I have started already. If we start sending our view to them , I m sure it will make changes on long way but we have to unite and stand up In group.

May be we can find some media who like to support us on this kind of issues ,
I m not sure how many of has time to do that but I have start doing it and hope some other will do the same.
