A documentary on the life of Kamaraj Late CM of Tamil Nadu was telecast today. As CM, he visits his mother in his home town Virudhunagar. She was a widow,very old and living alone. She stands along with others to take water in the street tap. Seeing her plight the panchayat president installs a waterpipe line and tap inside her house. When Kamaraj observes this during his visit, he immediately orders for dismantling the connection. He is worried what his neighbours will think of him and that he may be setting a wrong precedent for the officials down below. Compare this with todays bureaucrats and politicians, who have amassed 1000s of crores. Even the educated among us cannot tell immediately how many zeroes a single crore carries.
When are we really going to celebrate Republic Day or Independance Day?
