I would say, there is not much you missed by having not watched it....
In my view, it was a poorly researched documentary ... some facts were true, some were not .... some were exaggerated and biased ... all in all an effort to create 'masala' for viewers, and ironically people (other than indians) don't pay attention to facts on india unless those are negetive... producer is smart enough to learn atleast this much from slumdog's success....

I watched the second hour as I was watching The Amazing Race from 8-9. I think the hour was more into bollywood/rich/famous. Agreed, lot of Indian rich are arrogant and out of control. So what? There is no need to highlight them. There are more positive things about the country.
Next week on The Amazing Race, they will be in India. They showed some snippets and I did NOT like what they showed. Indirect India bashing by western media is becoming a common phenomenon.

Because of media i had a bad opinion of Colombia till i went there last year. It is a beautiful country and Bogota is a wonderful city.
There are a few truble pots in the south due to drugs and guirellas but overall it is a wonderful country.
Same thing the western media has done to India.

I watched the program here is summary of part - 1 first half
1)
Low caste guy can not get job even there is enough Reservation for them
2)Hindu kill muslim and Muslim has no place in new India. they have shown some muslim family interview and conclusion was they can be killed by hindu any time
they have shown burn body of muslim kid, women rape all done by hindu on daily basis
3)
Business man got all the money without doing any thing they rule India.
4)
Higher caste educated people also got money without doing much just because of IT boom
5)
Medical system in India is a joke and there is no medical system for poor.
(I think for most of the common man India system is very cost effective and work very well)
6) You have to struggle in bollywood
I don't understand why they don't show Dhirubai ambani, Narayan murthy and many more who born in normal family and made it big.
I am just back from India on march I was surprised by seeing the growth of India. If you want to work hard nobody will stop you and even businessman or rich guy work very hard to became successful or retain their position (yes their kid may not work/study that hard but some generation did fair amount of hard work). System is not a complete failure in India as shown by this program , system worked very well despite of all corruption, food is great at reasonable cost, there is still Human value exist.
India has own limitation but it is working from last 5000 year
There are two kinds of views about India that I don't like.
1) Always praising about India, especially to foreigners. To me this reeks of inferiority complex and desperation in selling India's image. In real life, I found such people were in a better positions in India and when they moved abroad could not adjust to downgrading themselves, hence the inferiority complex.
2) Absolutely accepting anything that media (Indian or Foreign) says about the country without challenging them. People with such opinions, IMHO, are amoral cowards who will not stand up for their country and reek of inferiority complex as well. In real life, my observation of this category is that they usually are of the grovelling type and will bend over if the boss asks them to.
Personally, I don't like boasting about India's achievements. West is pretty good at sniffing money and they have realized there's a lot of money/potential in India. So they will grudgingly acknowledge India even if they make some cliched, arrogant portrayal in the media. When we have a large number of gutter inspectors in Indian media, why blame a few more Latrine Orderlies in the west?
Chinese diaspora is more successful in pedaling the China myth and they do it without making much fuss.
Just rub it in the West's face(as they do to us) and enjoy watching them foam in the mouth!
