I dont see this as a Tamil issue. It is an LTTE issue.

When the LTTE is on its death bed we see the desperation of these people. But they fail to understand that as long as they use the LTTE flag, no government can officially support them or thier demands.

Canadian government banned LTTE only after the UN declared it as a terrorist organisation. The LTTE has to ask themselves who is to blame for this label.

I do sympathise with Tamils in SL and agree that thier civil liberties are non-existant -but the means do not justify the ends.

Following the news and a few interviews with some leaders in Toronto, it is clear that TAMIL issue is not at the core of this demonstration. They very well understand that the canadian government cannot help them beyond issuing a request to the SL govt.

But the underlying premise of these action is to show the LTTE flag on world television, get attention to LTTE (not tamils) and then collect donations for the organisation. When we say donations, we all know how much of it is voluntary.

I feel the city police has let the citizens down by doing nothing concrete to control them and set a wrong precedent for future. They should have acted firmly at the time these people blocked University avenue and given strong warning that these actions will be punished to the highest extent if repeated. All protests should be Lawful, peaceful and democratic without inconvienence to other citizens.

Pray for the innocent citizens (in SL and Canada) suffering for no fault of thiers.

As I write there is a huge International move happening at UNSC. The interesting this is that UK and France are at the forefront of the UN trying to bring about an open discussion in UN Security council on this issue. While China, Russia, Libya and few other countries are opposing this by commenting that this is an internal issue.

The US, UK and EU have woken upto the fact that the Chinese are building a HUGE Naval Base in Srilanka and they will follow it up with a Air Base also. This they are doing to safeguard the flow of their oil from ME to their country. They are already developing a base in Pakistan, Srilanka and also in Burma. They want to bring the oil by ship and pump it in.

The US is worried about it but they are not able to forcefully say anything as their BAIL OUT is dependant on Chinese buying their bonds.

Everybody is pussyfooting around the issue, while the some are trying to delay the IMF loan of US 1.9Billion to Srilanka. While Srilanka has given a finger to US and EU by saying that their donors in Asia and not in the countries meddling in their affair.

China wants LTTE to go as they do not want problems on their investments in Srilanka, which will be carried by the resurrected LTTE under assistance from US and EU. It will be Taliban allover again.

Right now the war is in the final phase and if I can predict correct you'll hear the good news that LTTE and Prabhakaran would have been barbecued in the next 36 to 48 hours. This news will come out along with the Indian poll news.

The main leaders Prabhakaran, Pottu Amman, Soosai, Charles Anthony, Nadesan and few guys are hiding in bunker about 6 feet underground and there is so much aerial bombing there is everychance that they would have been cooked by now.

COLOMBO: Prabhakaran, the founder and leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) might be dead, according to a CNN-IBN report. The news channel quoted sources as saying that the reclusive rebel leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and his top deputies may have died in an attack early this morning or committed mass suicide.

The body of rebel leader is taken to Sri Lankan army base in Panagoda for confirmation, as per the news channel’s claim.
