Dear Canadian Desis:
I have applied for my Canadian citizenship in March 2009. My PR card expires in August 2009, and I am wondering if I need to renew my PR card while my citizenship application is in process already?
Looking forward to your suggestions.
Kind Regards!!!
If you expect to travel outside Canada before your citizenship is completed, then it's better to renew PR Card.
The citizenship might take about a year from start to finish.
PR card renewal only costs $50 so it's better to play safe, IMO.

I too have similar situation like you
I already submitted Citixenship papers in March and next week iteslf papers send for PR renewal
Its almost sure that citizenship process will not be finish till August
Plus consider PR renewal process takes anything between 4-6 weeks
so send PR renwal application ASAP
