Lets see, later if your child want to settle in US, he need to study and get h1 or what crap even from canada ... (TN can't give you green card) ..all expense is same than if you have to spend more than 20
Thanks once again guys .
Pratick M , looking at today's scenario , there s no guarantee that a US education / job can get you a permanent status . Plus with the speed Green Cards are being processed today , who knows tomorrow the process might become slower or done away with . Citizenship at this stage is a safer surer bet ... do you agree ?
We do not have any intent of using the child's status to live in the US .... we would like to go on a TN later .
We are in Toronto and have been in Canada for 2.5 years now . Have had steady / good jobs . We intend to go by car during the 6th / 7th month but as of now just planning and still not finally decided .........
If we take the car and have to stay in the US for 3 months , how can we manage the Insurance and does US allow Canadian G2 drivers to drive around for 3 months ?

In your first post, you said you are PR.
If so, your US-born baby will not be a Canadian citizen.
Not even a PR.
You will need to first sponsor him/her to become a PR (which is fairly easy).
But I don't see how the baby will be Canadian citizen if born in the USA.

Good points ......... what would be the procedure to sponsor him/her if born in the USA ? Can it be done over the border I wonder .

If the child is an American citizen and a Canadian PR , how can she become a Canadian citizen ? ... perhaps after we attain citizenship ......... I know Canada does allow dual citizenship .
there's alot you are doing for US citizenship for your child.
1. As I've lived in the US for 3 years and gone to the emergency room with a friend who used to have mild cardiac symptoms- I have to say - they still keep you waiting - one hour - tow hours - yes with cardiac like symptoms.
2. we dont know what the future brings..believe me you've done alot for your child by becoming PR's. Nothing can ensure health, happiness, jobs. education...Not even US citizenship! so I would say focus on things that money can't buy..rather than watching the neighbouring ship..the grass is always greener. For every situation that has happened in teh last couple of years..the US is always worser off than Canada..but then that is only my opinion.

Well
I have same point when my wife had son before 3 years. i asked to my usa friends, they said you do not need to pay anything just you need to say that you was visiting usa and you do not have money,
hospital will take money from them fund.
But my concern is they can only deliver baby if your wife have really labour pain. If you go in beginning of labour pain they will send you back to canada. then what?
and is discussed in this forum many times if any immergency happened than how you can handle?
i just decided to get birth on canada for my son.
think thousand time before you do as my suggetion.

Kudos Michelle. Golden words, I would say.
Nobody knows how the situation will be eighteen years or so down the road.
At the same time, I can understand the OP's anxiety in trying to provide a better future for her child.
Personally though I feel the process does not seem to straightforward / risk free etc.
Wishing you all the best.
Cheers.
