I don't think if we are paying for the visits and are on a visitor status , they can turn us back .................. In Canada also , you are admitted in the start of labor pains , I believe it must be the same there .

We have not decided as of now and will think deeper for sure .

Now, on US border its very strick. I founded in our last visit.
I would recommend if you want to go for visa and then go to border, you should think about 6 month plan before due date.

If you go in end of pregancy, may be they will give you visa. However when you have to cross broder you have to see immigration office to obtain I90 and they can make out very very easily, if your wife is in last month and then can tell you to visit later after baby arrive.
If you have family then you should go there around 5-6 month...but then again later requried lots of test..so you have to find doctor in usa..and follow all..

It will be not easy to get I90 at border in last month of pregancy. I was canadian citizen and we went to USA to bring our relative from buffalo for baby shower and did not get any problem as I don't need to go inside. However, my husband was still on PR so I did go inside to get his I90 and we got without any problem.
But they allow only the person who needs I90, so I was inside, but not infront of the officer. That can make difference.

Best should be before planning for baby, you should have your visa ready and have stamped I90...then you don't need to see officer..
I90 generally they give for 6 month..but can be diffence..all based on passport .. expire date...on officer etc..

Hi,
Sorry to hijack this thread with my question. But, someone just mentioned above 'I90'. Could someone please explain what is form I90 and the purpose thereof? Just curious.

Thanks.

From the way it's described, I think it means I-94.

But as Pratickm mentioned, I think binal is referring to I-94

Binal is refering to the I-94. The I-94 is the "departure record" of the alien which is issued upon entry into the US and to be surrendered upon leaving the US. The I94 states the validity of stay allowed by the port of entry officials. The validity is usually upto 6 months for visitors and upto the validity of employment for people on work status. For students, it is typically D/S (Duration of studies). The validity of I-94 might very well be shorter/different than validity of the stamped visa.

For visa holders, the I-94 is white while for visa waiver country citizens, it is green. Canadians don't come under either of the above, hence no I-94 for visitors. However, Canadians get the white I-94 if they are on a non-immigrant status other than visitors, such as F1, H1, TN, etc.

Hi ,

To update all , we have decided to stay back and deliver the baby in Canada .. Though there was the temptation of our child becoming a US citizen , there was a higher risk of child's and mother's health involved in the option .

Plus in Canada you have free healthcare .
