Hi friends,
Would like to know your views or suggestions on an very important issue…

We landed in Emdonton,Alberta last year in Sept 2008.The same time the economy turnover hit hard…
Luckily for myself I got a good job in Edmonton. But my husband, inspite of being a Mech Engg and having a lot of experience, was not so successful and is still looking out for job and doing some courses side by side....
But the current job market is so bad that we dont know what will be outcome...

Now he has a very good job offer in hand from India. So we are in a mental crisis whether to stay in this beautiful country or to pack off and go for good.As we are on PR we can try to come back once the economy stabilises….
There is always an option of myself staying here with my kid and husband joining job in India…Don’t know which is the best one…
Any opinions are welcome…..
Thanks in advance…..

You have to ask yourselves some important questions,

What are the chances that your husband will get a good job in his own field if you keep living here?
Is his jobless impacting your household atmostphere, is there a frustration?
Is he thrilled to get this job opportunity in India and is it a good package?
Will you guys regret later if you let this job opportunity pass?
How long are you guys planning to keep looking for jobs in Canada?
If you decide that you and your child stay back and you husband joins in India, how long will this arrangement hold, and what is the purpose of this arrangement?

This is not a very difficult situation, just need to think it through and do some backup planning.

Hi zoorro,
Thanks for your reply...But the answers are not so simple to this situattion.I know it is difficult to assess ourself....

What are the chances that your husband will get a good job in his own field if you keep living here? -VERY RARE @ PRESENT RECESSION PERIOD....

Is his jobless impacting your household atmostphere, is there a frustration?-YES SOMETIMES.....
Is he thrilled to get this job opportunity in India and is it a good package?-YES

Will you guys regret later if you let this job opportunity pass?YES

How long are you guys planning to keep looking for jobs in Canada?WE HAD DECIDED FOR A YEAR AFTER LANDING i.e-TILL AUG/SEPT 2009

If you decide that you and your child stay back and you husband joins in India, how long will this arrangement hold, and what is the purpose of this arrangement?-THATS THE MOST TRICKIEST ONE.....the purpose for the arrangement is that he can keep applying for the job market here from India anddue to my physical presence here,he can have a better base of coming back...Also as we are already finished 9-10months...we can think of staying on till getting CITIZENSHIP...which will be beneficial for the child....

This is not a very difficult situation, just need to think it through and do some backup planning. -YES WE ARE ALSO THINKING THE SAEM..BUT T HE DIFFICULT PART IS TO TAKE THE CORRECT DECISION AND STICK TO IT...

When we came here,we were in the Gulf for almost a decade. We left a very good job in Middle East and landed in this scenario...So now we want to think irrartionally and take the best way out.....

Thanks for sharing your ideas and know its our own self we need to question and set the priorities.....

I think it is heard to take a decision when we are in this kind of situation. One side you like to stay Canada considering better future for Kids, and other side your husband doesn’t like to loose the nice Job opportunity.

Canada is very safe country and I think you can stay with kids at Canada at least two more years until you are eligible to apply for Citizenship. As you have spend lot of heard earn money and time to get PR it would be better to get Citizenship, Two years is nothing it will pass just like that, but in future you will never regret to go back without Citizenship.

This is my personal opinion not legal advice without so many question and compare + and -

Good Luck!

Princess2

You have packed up and landed in this country for a new life. Manage the bills with your job, savings, credit and wait till you become citizens. Do not give up and continue to explore different opportunities (different jobs, jobs at different provinces, business etc.). Become citizens as soon you are eligible.

Then review your situation. If it is still bad and you lost hope, then your husband can explore opportunities again in Middle East or India. As the world economy not in a good shape now, it will be good after few years as a cycle.

I believe, one of the main reason for your coming to Canada is to provide better life for your kid.

If you move here and there, your kid’s life gets affected negatively. Good or bad … you came to this beautiful country. Love it and do not give it up. You may struggle for some years. But you will be fine at the end.

Hi friends,
Thanks for the opinions..Really at this crucial time we are welcome to all the ideas and suggestions.

Now with the present job and salary we are able to survive moderately and even save a bit..Financially there is no problem..But then staying without job for my husband is so difficult that he wishes to go back for good....as he is having a job in hand.Which is again true for his level.

Well keeping our fingers crossed for the best option....

Thanks again and will keep you all posted.....

Since your husband is getting very good job in India, it's better that he takes this job offer. He can always come back in next few months if that job does not work out well for him.

You can try to stay here with your kid and if it is difficult to manage alone then you can also go back after few months. You can also request your/husband parents (if that is an option) to visit you for few months and they can help you particularly with kid.

There is no point in waiting here if he is getting good job.
