To me the real problem is:
1) Entitlement - people who use their children as pawns to further the interest of their extended family. Those extended family that feel they are entitled to have themselves/their children brought to Canada by any method , moral or otherwise.
2) Parents who have no spine and even if they dont want to, give in to pressure from their siblings. These so called parents are adults, but are not mature.
The article says:
Activist Manjit Mangat, who has a law office in Brampton, admits the ads sound suspicious, but argues some are sincere efforts at family reunification, even though the method is unconventional.
"There is no ulterior motive in some cases. They put up a condition because there is no other way for maybe one member of a family to come to Canada," he says. "
If that isnt an ulterior motive, then what is???

Those who consider themselves"activists" often dont look at the big picture and are part of the problem, rather than being part of the solution.

Think of how the Irish, Polish and other European immigrants came here.
it is a great historical joke that those who used every means possible by hook or crook to get out of their country and become immigrants here are now setting these rules and calling us Asians as crooks.
and we in turn end up blaming ourselves.
Look at Australia. that country was made up by the finest and choicest selection of murderers, criminals, thugs, heretics and other social slime.
and now the descendents of those are screaming against immigrants.
what is more, in each of these cases, they pillaged, murdered and raped the native population in the countries they inhabited (whether it is native Americans, the Inuits in Canada, or the Australian aboriginies).
even today a boat comprising of illegal Cuban refugees is welcomes in the USA yet Indian guys/girls with arranged marriages are interrogated like they are thives.

The main difference here is that people with ulterior motives are making a mockery of a very special relationship - marriage, in which to obtain their own means to an end. Eastern Communities speak out so vocally against the corrupt values of western people (divorce, cohabitation, serial marriages etc) however this is hypocracy.
How ironic that traditional / old school indians shun divorce as something so terrible, except for when it achieves, again, a means to an end (in this case immigration).
I realize not everyone's situation is ideal back in their own country

The story appeared in the Star is very true and worth getting space on the main page. This problem is getting worst day by day and community and community leaders must stand up against this, otherwise it would be much harder to get legitimate family members into Canada.

Unfortunately, they are too busy fighting among themselves (even here) or trying to build a seperate nation out of India. That's where all their energies go. Sorry, but it's true.
