One of my neighbors has recently immigrated to Canada. His family in Bombay has shipped about 10 kilograms of milk sweets by India post.
Is the import of milk sweets allowed by Customs Canada?
Is there a possibility that Canada customs will charge a fee towards duty?
I would appreciate any feedback because my neighbors are now worried that the package may be confiscated by customs canada.
Your neighbours worry may become true.
There were previous hearsays that customs do not allow big quantity citing health hazards
But if he does manage to get the parcel i would be envious of him enjoying the asli mithai. Here in north America i have not had Asli Mithai . all they have is stuff mae from milk powder.

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
10 kgs is lots of sweet to send thru post.
So, what's the update ?
Did they recieve it ? Custom ??
... If and when reached safely, they may express their joy distributing MEETHAI to nears and dears ...

PS- Do not forget me
How long can the milk sweets be outside without refrigeration without spoiling? Won't it take at least two weeks if you use regular parcel post of Indiapost.

Update: the sweets arrived yesterday, about 5-6 days after leaving India by FEDEX. the parcel was cleared by customs, and there were no duties to pay!.
