thanks rajcanada and TK. since we got our health card in august, I am visiting walk in clinics in search of a lady doctor closeby since it is difficult with 2 small kids. I went to 5 clinics walking range of half an hour with my younger one (2 years old) walking in such cold weather, every where they are telling doctors are not taking new patients. Healthconnect promised me lady doctor for myself and daughter but sent letter in the name of some male doctor.
Is there no rule here that, how many patients should a doctor take? Canadian Govt, gives good facilities of schools and park etc close by but what about doctors, that is more important than anything else.
Here is where I miss our great India, doctors at nook and corner. They even come home to give treatment if a patient is old or too sick to go to doctor. This problem of doctors and hospitals, I faced in sharjah too. Clunics close at 9 pm and we have to rush to big hospitals for small things at night. why are doctors not available like in India, say home visit etc.

I am getting a male doctor (mauritius) very close to my house. Is it ok for me to take male doctor as my family doctor? This is also walk in clinic.
I just wanted an advise from you all. I don't know whether this is right or not to post this thing on forum. maybe many ladies may have faced such situations but not bold enough to disclose it openly.
last time about 2 months back, I went to same walk in clinic since I was feeling giddy and I was deputed to a male doctor, since I was new immigrant, I didn't have health card.
after entering for check up the doctor lifted my T shirt for checking. I was wearing cotton t shirt and never in India nor in sharjah, doctors lifted T shirt for check up. I was too sick to be shocked. But this incident has made me cautious not to take male doctor. Is it a practice here to have check up like this?
please advise and thanks in advance.

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Since clothing to some extent interferes with listening to heart sounds, they like to place stethoscope directly on the skin. It also depends where the doctor is from since culture is very different from country to country. Usually here they ask for consent but in walk in clinic they are always in a hurry, so may have skipped. If you are uncomfortable with a male doctor, go with your husband or try to go for a lady doctor if that makes you feel comfortable. There will be situations where there are only very few female doctors are available when it comes to specialists like surgeons, etc.
