Please dont brand me racist. But when I look at the ad.s on TV especially the ones that come on OMNI during Indian programs.. I must say.. they SUCK!!!

why do they speak that way? to attract indo-canadians? do they think all indo-canadians talk like that??

all the realters, insurence agents, raj jewellers lady.. why do they torture us this way??

one biggest torture is that family (father-daughter-son trio) who present "eye-on-asia" programs. god save us!!!!

And what about people who cannot pronounce their own name in the Indian way - eg. Melissa Bhagat (she calls herself Beget)??

I agree. I have to shut my ears or mute the TV for these advertisements. The one I dislike most is the guy who gives the voiceover for a Pizza ad for a video rental chain! I am not sure if that was intended as a take on Indian accent but it is in bad taste. I haven't seen or rather heard those kinds of accent in India.

Oh my heavens, this is so true!

I cannot stand the girl in the Softron Ad either. And Melissa Bhagat gives me heartburn every time I have to watch Bollywood Blvd. I can't believe OMNI has not rec'd any letters asking for a new host.

However, on the flip side, I really like that Naidu-Harris newswoman and Geetika (on OMNI), neither of them has accents but are clear and articulate.

Also, what is up with that new Radio Ad for Blockbuster, the one with the woman pretending to be Gollum and the Indian guy at the end telling her not to waste his time. Its not funny but horribly stereotypical and rude.

Xyza I dont consider you a racist.. I feel quite disgusted when folks on TV (esp that fat lady/Spinster on City TV ...Sunday Morning).. They just cant pronounce hindi / punjabi names..

Shahrukh khan becomes -Shhrook Khan :D and I agree their pronounciation is yucky at best !.. The only announcer I like (and she is cute also..) is the one that comes on before the Hindi movie starts on OMNI TV ...She resembles someone we used to see regularly on Indian TV (back in India)
..as they say...
Saala Ek Coconut (and not a Machchar) TV ka kachda kar deta hai (and not aadmi ko Hijda bana deta hai ) :D

What about the one where there is this lady who gets into an accident and then hires some lawyer and then at the end goes?

"XYZ ne to mujhe itne paise dalwaye, maine to haathon ke kangan bhi banava liye!" :D

I wonder what these guys smoke before they start to make ads.
