May be another terrorist attack done by Muthalik of Shriram Sena AKA Indian Taliban. May be by Shiva Sena, Bajrang Dal, RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad. May be they are trying to divert the attention from the release of the movie My Name is Khan.

When 63,000 cops have been recalled from leave, cancellation of leave and put on protection to cinema theater than protecting innocent people what do you expect?.

Efficient cops like Kharkare and his team who sacrificed their lifes to protect innocent life has gone down the drain. The whole issue has been twisted into a freedom of speech of an individual and the government had to protect the movie. Do you think the Shiva Sena and others will sit quiet and let things simmer. The whole Mumbai film industry will earn their wrath now. Why poke a finger into the bee hive when you know that you are going to be stung?.

The policemen have to sacrifice their life to protect innocent victims of terrorism, while the guy who supports the very same country needs to be protected, his personal business interest has to be safe guarded in the name of Freedom of Speech.

The total cost of this whole game has run into Crores of Rupees and it is the common man who has to pay through his taxes.

Is democracy for some or for whole of the people.

Pseudo Secularism - Go Figure !.

To all the Secular, Freedom of Speech, Pro-SRK, Pro-Salman Khan, Pro-Congress (I) - ANTI - Shiva Sena, BJP, RSS, Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad contributors on this site:

http://news.rediff.com/report/2010/feb/13/indian-mujahideens-deadly-message-in-pune-blast.htm

What do you have to say?.

Your secular, ethical and broad minded support to SRK for supporting Pakistan has been responded with such kind action.

Where is SRK, Sallu, Mahesh Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan and the Government of Maharasthra now?.

Where they busy protecting the cinema theatres and a cine-actors house, when innocent lives have been lost at a prime location in Pune.

Keep handing out the Olive branch and you'll get Olive oil back!.

Atleast will SRK use his good offices and talk to Mr.Zardari or Gilani Saab and use Shriman.Kiyaniji to get at the culprits ?.

Or it is a one way street, where they will come and play in IPL with Indian police protection, make crores of rupees and then walk away while the culprits are being protected by their government?.

Please have a rethink on the concept of this Pseudo secularism as practised in India before reality strikes.

Will the same terrorists have the guts to do something like this in Gujarat ?.

Think !.

Did SRK's remark cross legal line?

13 Feb 2010, 1146 hrs IST, Kartikeya, TNN

MUMBAI: Did Shah Rukh Khan abuse his freedom of speech and expression when he regretted the Pakistani cricketers’ exclusion from the IPL? Legal
experts said like all other freedoms guaranteed by law, even the freedom to express an opinion was bound by reasonable restrictions.

Khan could have abused the freedom of speech and expression he has been guaranteed under the Indian law only if he had said something that compromised the security of the state, affected India's relations with a foreign country, was contemptuous of a court of law or directly created public disorder, said legal experts.

Advocate Y P Singh said Khan's statements did not appear to cross any line and anyone familiar with the constitutional law would have known that the current fuss was absolutely unnecessary. What the actor expressed while speaking about Pakistani cricketers in the IPL was an opinion, and he had exercised a fundamental freedom guaranteed to him by one of the most sacrosanct parts of the Indian Constitution.

Freedom of speech and expression written under Article 19 (1) (a) has been fiercely defended at various times by the Supreme Court in the last 60 years of our republic.

Two decades ago in 1989, the Supreme Court said in the Rangarajan vs P Jagjivan Ram case that “free debate” and “open discussion” were an "integral part of a democracy”.

Even before that, in a 1950 case, then Chief Justice Patanjali Shastri had said, “Freedom of speech lies at the foundation of all democratic organisations, for without free political discussion no public education-so essential for the proper functioning of the process of popular government-is possible”.

“Freedom of speech and expression, like all others, is bound by reasonable restrictions, but if an opinion does not violate them, then it is fine,” said advocate Mubin Solkar.

Singh said, “The freedom of speech is a fundamental right, which political parties have often tried to trample on, but the courts have never allowed it. It is the basic feature of the Constitution and an inalienable right, something that parties looking for short-term gain do not respect.”

A recent Supreme Court judgment (2002) even laid down that freedom of speech and expression included the "right to impart and receive information, which, in turn, included freedom to hold opinions”. In the same order, the judges had said having an uninformed citizenry in the country would make our democracy "a farce”.

Besides infringing on one's right to express his opinion, when a movie is not allowed to run in theatres, it also takes a toll on the livelihood of the hundreds of technicians, artistes and theatre workers associated with it.

Film-making, distribution and screening are essential aspects of the business and all of them are affected when a movie faces opposition during its release. Moreover, when a theatre is vandalised, the offenders trample over yet another constitutional right of the citizens that of holding property under Article 300 (A).

Latest news from Pune. There was a urgent request for blood and the hospital could not get enough quantity/type of blood from the blood bank. They contacted the local RSS office in PUNE and they have been flooded with blood donors.

Amazing !.

Just a quick question, vandemateram . Please pardon my ignorance, but what do you mean by "pseudo secularism". The reason I ask is this is - this is an oft repeated term, used by groups like the RSS, the VHP & the Bajrang Dal.

As much as waving the olive branch has not helped - do you believe that we have the political will and conviction in India, to fight the militant brand of Islam with guns and bullets? When all the Government of India sees - is the 13 (or is it 14%?) Muslims as the vote-bank, does it have the conviction to fight terrorism like Israel does? I may not agree with some policies of the Zionist state, but I applaud the fact that they never negotiate with terrorists. They will gladly sacrifice a few lives during an assault, but will not cave in to the demands of a terrorist group. No wonder each Israeli citizen can feel proud of his country.

We know how Mrs Indira Gandhi appeased the Arabs, by refusing to recognize the Jewish state of Israel. It was not just the Arabs in the middle east that mattered, but the vote bank, which kept her government in place for many years. Her legacy has continued - with the current government following the same policies of appeasement.

We can not walk proudly as Indians, till s we have the courage to fight violence, with violence. Unfortunately we do not live in the Gandhian era, where a simple satyagraha could yield great results to the most complex issues. Non violence does not work with violent communities - no matter which religion, they belong to.

All this said, let us not say that this couldn't happen in Gujarat or any other state. If it happens in any part of India, it is a matter of shame - let us not divide India further on lines of region, or language. Enough has happened already.

Still we are discussing on supporting pak biased statements from celebreties, sports men and no one had guts to oppose pak directly to inform they are responsible...In China or US a special court would have tried Kasab and silently hanged him and made sure no one would dare it again.

how many ""Actors"" and "leaders" will condemn terrorism?

I wonder now what SRK has to say.

God Bless Hindustan!
