Direct Energy Or Enbridge ?

I just bought a house,
I need to open account for Electricity and GAS (furnace) –House in Brampton.

What is the different between Direct Energy Or Enbridge? They seems two different utility provider, which one is better?

Sorry to ask you this stupid question but I am new to Ontario and do not have enough knowledge about the city and rules

Please help me if you can

Hi ...
Direct Energy is NOT a utility provider . They are the service providers . They can help you with your appliances including Furnace and AC .
Gas utilities are provided by ONLY Enbridge .
In early 2000 Enbridge was a single company who was providing utilities and appliances repair under 'Home Essential Services' but later it got split and hence you see two names .
You MUST call Enbridge if ( but not limited to ):
1. You smell Gas
2. Any symptoms of Carbon Monoxide including Co detector going off
3. No gas

You MAY OPT to call DE (or any other private contractor ) if :
1. AC breakdown or new installation required
2. Furnace ( Heating system ) breakdown
3. Humidifier Installation or repair .
4. Plumbing issues

Hope it helps a little
AG

Yes for all Heating Isuues , you have to Call Enbridge Gas. I am assuming you are seeing some sticker of Direct Energy on your Water Heater & Or Furnace.
I assume your Water Heater is from Direct Energy & you are using it on Rent.
Rent for Water Heater will be collected by Enbridge Gas on behalf of Direct Energy. I am assuming all my replies based on my experience by living in same area in Brampton. ( However, I bought a brand new home from Builder)

You can call anyone but Enbridge for your heating/cooling issues ..Enbridge is ONLY responsible to supply gas upto the gas meter ..

We are moving to a new home in Mississauga early September , would like to know what are the utility companies we must contact in regards to hydro, gas an water ? Do we have a choice in the service provider ?

When do we start the process is it before we move in or after we move.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance
