Hi ,
I have a incoporated business and i mailed my Payroll deductions on Feb 27th and i was assesed a fine of over 300$ as the CRA received it on March 3rd. CRA deadline is March 1st
According to my friend CRA needs it postmarked before March 1st..
Wanted to check with the people on the forum what are the rules and will it get returned on appeal..

Chances are yes if you have the post marked envelop with you otherwise don't try.

The envelop was posted not recieved, so OP won't have the post marked envelop.
BTW; What's the harm in trying?

This is a more complex matter than what i had originally posted.
I though the fine was for them receiving it late by a few days..
But turns out it was by a few months late not a few days late.. My accountant failed to reveal it to me that i would be fined and a call to the CRA told me what was going on..
As per rules all 2009 T4's remittance should have been done by Jan 15th and T4 filed by March 1st.. I had missed the remittance date.. and hence the fine
Even if i contest i will have a hard time convincing them about refunding penatly unless i decide to cancel the T4 all together, which will not work in my favor as i have already contributed to RRSP to claim back some of the taxes..
I risk audits if i chose other methods because CRA already knows i should have been treated a employee because of my once issued T4.
