Once you land up in Canada....let's say after 3-4 years and you find yourself that even if you want, you cannot go back 'for good' due to various reasons.

These songs come to your mind. ( pls feel free to add to this list)

1} Abhimanyu...chakravyuha mein fas gaya hai tu....

2} Jeena yahan marana yahan iske siva jana kahan....

3} Musafir hoon yaroon, na ghar hai na thikana.....

4} Chal akela chal akela....

5} Kya khabar kya pata...

6} Badi sooni sooni hai, jindagi yeh jindagi

7} Raju chal raju, apani masti mein tu, koi jiye ya mare kya tujko babu....

8} Jindagi ka safar, hai ye kaisa safar...

9} Chadta sooraj dhire dhire dhalta hai dhal jayega....

The following are views for Success from a Hardcore Pessimist(yeah! that is me, THE PREACH):

Some people who accept reality and do the Right Things sing:

end up singing:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once you land here try to make a short term plan and a long term plan. That is goal setting for every 5 years and another for where you'll like to be after 25 years.

Your Degrees from abroad are worth NOTHING here. Many a times you do not need to have these degrees as the jobs do not demand these degrees.

Avoid Ghetto mentality and try to move out of people from your own areas in India. They will feed you with what is possible and NOT what you should be dreaming about.

It is very important to note it takes about 5 to 7 years for you to truely settle down.

It is very important that both the husband and wife work and share the household burden.

If you rigidly feel that your spouse should not work then you can become a CCTB family(that is a kid everyother year to get that CCTB of 250 Bucks per month, and there are families with 6 to 10 kids).

Those who come from USA in Technology related areas land up in jobs directly in work related to their education or experience.

The rest have to mold themselves to the situation on ground.

Many a times office jobs are dead end jobs with no job security while factory jobs in an unionized environment with overtime can lead to better job security and higher pays. For example there are companies in Mississauga where people make $35 an hour with double pay of $70 per hour on week end and $87.5 per hour on government holidays.

There are Desi people with highschool education making 100K per annum living in Million Dollar homes in Mississauga, Brampton; driving LEXUS, BMW's and having 3 to 4 week vacations in Hawaii or the West Indies.

The trick is start with 2 part time jobs and not a single dead end FULL time job.It would be good to look for or train yourself in skills what people want and what you have to offer. For Eg: you are better off to be Industrial Millwright here than to be a fancy B.Tech(Mechanical) earning 40K doing a desk job while the mechanic will make around 100K with over time. The jobs in Service sector or Food Industry or HIVAC areas a definite big areas.

You need to save initially and try to settle down than to compete with JONES's.

Try to get an initial part time job initially and CONSTANTLY network. You get to hear about leads from friends and you should try to compete for these jobs. The initial entry might be difficult but once you are in, then there is no looking back.Sometimes you will be on contract with a company for 5 to 6 years and on call but you bear with it and when your number comes there is no stopping back.

While you are settled in one good job or two part time jobs making up the 40 hours per week, you should pick up another skill related to what the province wants and in Ontario that is a Real Estate Agent License, Mortgage Broker, Insurance Broker or related service guy.

You should incorporate your own business and generate some revenue initially even if you break even to get experience and parallely write off your expenses for car leases, part mortgage expense, food, telephone and gas bills. This will help you to tweak figures if you want to sponsor your family at a later time.

Once you are up there at the age of 50+ you should look for some type of business either a start up or a Franchise where in you do not to retire but to work at your pace.

There are Desi persons in Mississauga who came to this country with nothing on the back and cleaned toilets initially are worth 50 to 70 Million Dollars. They have their million dollar bungalows near Port Credit. They go on annual cruises every year, sponsor Indian Regional get togethers and organize their wedding anniversary on the cruise boats of the Toronto Harbour.

If you want to learn about the path of two successful persons try to find about the life path of 1. Mr.Nav Bhatia of Mississauga Hyundai or 2.Mr.Pradeep Nair of the Saravana Bhavan Franchises of Canada.

There are many others who have made it big and I cannot go on with the list as space or time is limited.

Good Luck & God Bless !.
