Hi,

Does someone know if there are any implications, in case one is on EI and plan to visit India (probably for about 1-2 months) during this time? Does one have to declare while filing out their report about being out of country? Could it also affect the benefits or the entire application?

Please advise.
Thanks.

Yes, By law one has to declare in report if flying out of country. If you don't declare and they find out later that you lied, they will ask for all the reimbursements for the period you were paid when out of country and/or deny the benefits as well for lying on the application (EI Report)

They can send a request to Customs and Border Protection to verify one's entry/exit in country.

One can only get EI, IF one is present in Canada and actively looking for jobs.

In that case, they would most likely ask for a proof. And its not worth wasting your time in "getting" that proof or arguing with CRA.
